I hate doing ring gaps.....if I recall correctly...those KB pistons require a larger than normal top gap don't they? They are the same ones I used in my old 350 and I remember the top ring gap was quite larger per manufacturer recommendations.Originally posted by Phantom383 View PostJust typed out don't look like much but it took hr's to do.
Every ring was checked and gaped to spec.
Top rings .018
2nd Ring .022sigpicTurbo Charged LS1/T56

There was no instructions for ring gaps with the kit so I just looked up online and did the math for ring gaps for a Performance motor.
They are on the big side for performance.
Standard is .016 & .020 for a 383 N/A.
When I did Josh's motor I gaped his at .020 & .024 for N2o.Last edited by Phantom409; April 11th, 2009, 02:55 PM.

Hey Kyle....are they forged or hypereutectic?
.....okay...I just did a little digging....I knew I wasn't crazy...might want to give this a read Kyle. I had the hypers and I just remember setting a larger ring gap than normal when I assembled the engine.

Well we are running Forged pistons and that chart is the same as the one that I have in my garage.
Top Ring is .004 x bore = .01612 and I'm @ .018
2nd ring is .005 x bore = .0215 and I'm @ .022
So I'm good
