That 4inch cutout is gonna be effing loud FYI. I have that same 4" merge on my car. I fired it up and ran it for a bit on the open y-pipe when I pulled off my 4 inch catback to put on the GMMG.8-O

I believe its because H/C/I LS1 cars with large converters tend to get loud when you want to leave your house at 5am

Ok. I'm lost. All this time I thought this motor was an LS2... So I went back to the original post and read through it and found this is an LS1 out of an 02 vette with 35k miles. So I'm tryin to figure out why I was thinking this was an LS2 all along. Well I find the picture of the block that says 6.0L... So my question is... Did the corvettes have a larger bore, and/or stroke???

He originally bought an LS1 but then found a GTO 6L motor I think?

Looks great, Jeff! Is that plate above the harmonic balancer the timing cover? It looks like a plate that's ready to be welded into place. It's just amazing how different the LSx is compared to the LTx.

Yeah Brian it is the timing cover, and the LS2 cars have a weird looking window. (This probably has something to do with the cam sensor being in the cover itself) I only wish it were something you could remove for cam swaps without having to take off the harmonic balancer. Also yes Fred this is an LS2, you'd really have to ready through all my rambeling to understand whats going on

James my injectors were done by my tuner Phil, he did a great job and hardly charged me for the work it took him to clean them out and get them all flowing the same again.

Did work today! That is up until I got stopped and called it quits. Tomorrow I'll have to go find a new metric bolt for the valley cover. It looks like after test fitting the intake that plate we added is coming a wee bit too close for our comfort level so I'm gonna get a flat head bolt and champfer the hole in the valley cover so it sits flat.

What I did accomplish, however, was finishing the intake manifold off with the new gaskets I got and getting the heads on and torqued down as well as the valvetrain, now if only my valvecovers were done Its really starting to look like a motor and next time I update it will almost be ready to set back on the k-member. Heres a few pics.

Yeah my Dad is paranoid that the engine is too much weight for the four bolts so he cut a piece of wood and it actually works well when your torqing down bolts really tight because the motor hardly moves at all.
