Rough. Real rough.

It was tough doing everything by myself, especially having never done this before.

The first challenge I had was getting the y pipe off of where it slips into the cat back pipe. It was rusted on there pretty good. Then one bolt on the header downpipe wouldn't come off, so I took that manifold off with it still connected. So that brings me to where I am now...

I cant get the damn oil dipstick tube off! I am at my wits end with this! I tried everything I could think of to get it off. It looks like it might be pushed into the block a little too far. I had someone try to pull and twist with channel locks from the top of the tube while I was under the car pushing up and twisting with channel locks, and it didn't budge! I could really use some advice on this!

Hmm - maybe vice grips at the bottom? I know it's two totally different engines but on my LT1 it just slides right in and then there's the bolt on the block that holds it in place.

As soon as I can figure out what to do next, and get a new dipstick tube.

You need to take something like pliers and grab onto the tube and pry down using them as a lever. You will get it out just gotta take a step back when you get frustrated sometimes ya know.

Make sure when you put the tube back in you put a dab of grease on it dude. If I didn't have to go back up to school I would have come over and helped you out.

I tried everthing I could think of...

I tried putting vice grips on the bottom where it goes into the block and used a socket extension and a hammer to try and tap it up and out.

Looking at that pic again, I might be able to get a small scew driver in there to help pry it out.

Would it be OK to soak it with PB Blaster?

Hey Brett just make 100% sure you got the bolt out that holds it in, the first time I took mine out it was in kind of firm but I pulled it good and then it came out I don't think I've ever heard of an oil dipstick sticking in the pan before.

Oh, I am 100% that bolt is out! The first attempt to get it out was a wire coat hanger bent through the bolt hole in the bracket to pull up on.
