Mikronite is an interestng process for surface treatment. I work in the shotpeen world so it's hard for me to invision how they get deep compressive residual stress into the metal with such a small media. But appearently they do. The surface finish between the two process is quite different to, but that is a by-product of the media size.

Yah, doing some investigating, from what I see you can't shot peen gears right? Cause it makes them stronger, but also provides tons of little surfaces to be made into sharp edges?

We shotpeen gear sets all the time. Just about every OEM shotpeens thier gear sets.

Been a while but I figured that I would give some up to date info.

Decided to hold off on the diff. change and gear swap until spring, since it will gain me zero benifit to do it for the winter. Also thinking about 4.10 instead of the 3.73 cause that will be perfect for my 1/4 mile aspirations, but I don't know we'll see what I come up with in the spring.

The flowmaster is on, but unfortunatly I don't have any pics or sound clips of it right now. As soon as I get my laptop back I will get some. Ended up going with a low gloss engine paint cause I was unhappy with the flat black that I used. Improved the idle a little bit, it sounds really good up to about 3500, then my loud ass engine drones it out. I'm thinking Borla or GMMG in the spring
Got the SFC welded up as well, and they are AWESOME. My car feels SOO much stiffer now. The thing that I will say, is that I had heard it will fix some of the creaks and groans that are popular. This is completly bogus, it actually made some of mine worse.

Decided that I am going to drive it thru the winter, so I found a set of steelies and Blizzaks for free, so now I'm rollin on those. Kinda looks like a cop car, lol. Also thru 200lbs in the back for more traction. Makes my car squat horribly, but my car gets around better in the snow than my moms Charger now, so I can't complain. I actually got these steelies off of a LS1 car, and couldn't figure out why the rear rims wouldn't fit. Apparently the Ls1 cars hubs are smaller, so I had to take a dremmel and grind out the rear hubs. Took probably 1/8" off all the way around.

Also, got new headlights from Eurolamps.com, a site sponser. I got the sealed beam conversion kit, and they are LOADS better. Both the high beams and low beams are in right now, just gotta find a free day to get the fogs in. Didn't know that the fogs were gonna be a huge PITA to do. Again, I'll get pics of those when I get my laptop back.

imo gmmg is alot of $, you could make your own for dirt cheap with the same stuff as a michigan guy makes the same chambered mufflers and they are like i think 75 a piece, just something to think about

so whats next?

imo gmmg is alot of $, you could make your own for dirt cheap with the same stuff as a michigan guy makes the same chambered mufflers and they are like i think 75 a piece, just something to think about

The LCA bolts just weren't tight enough, and that was causing a loud popping noise to come from where the subframe connectors meet up with the LCA box. In all honesty, I have never heard a GMMG car in real life, only on the internet. I really want to hear one so that I can get a good judgment on how it sounds. Some people like different exhausts, but I have never seen anyone who didn't like GMMG, so I figured it's gotta sound good, lol. I think that I have heard of that before, aren't they called thundersticks or something like that?
As far as whats next, I need a new clutch. When I went to the track in July, I sidestepped it at 3k rpm and got no wheelspin and ran a 14.1 with a 2.3 60ft, lol. I'm looking seriously at getting a McCloed Street twin cause I will never need a new one again, and not have to worry about drivability or be worried about overpowering it. Between that, a 800- 900 dollar exhaust, and getting my rims widened to 11" I think that will be the extent of it for a while. I think that the goal for now is to build a full-bolt on car and have some fun with it. When I get done with that I am going to put a monster cam (something along the lines of the GM847/ AI 200cc) in it along with some head/ intake porting and see how long the bottom end will last. But that is 1-2 years down the road.

HAHA, yeah the steelies are terrible, I was talking to a few at Duggans saying that I should go get some walmart spinners, lol. I don't know if there is a way to tell what flowmaster I have, cause I know there are a ton of "series" such and such, but this exhaust is slightly louder than my stock, so I'm going to guess that it is different from what was on that car

is ur flowmaster single inlet dual outlet?

80 series most likely is my guess but if its not a single in dual out then grab a pic.

my 80 series on my car was so quiet you coulb't hear it 30yds away

single in dual out, sounds like that cause IMO its pretty quiet, but a good DD muffler if you dont like it too loud

Didn't have the money to buy another vehicle. I thought that I would, but with the way that the automotive industry is going, and me working with a supplier of them, I thought that the money would be better off as a safety net, since I walk into work everyday wondering if I am still going to have a job or not. I hated to do it, but I hose the underside off every day from the y-pipe back and wash it every day that it is warm enough out that it won't freeze so I think that one winter wont kill it. plus, after looking at 9T8W66's car that has been through 10 winters and is in great shape, that gave me inspiration.

it can get loud with headers+ory pipe+3in exhaust

cant remember all that you have tho.
