I think there is a bur on the trans shaft or inside the spines of the drive shaft. if this causes any problems, (which one its running I don't think it will). This will be Brians reason to get alum. drive shaft, of course!.

X2, it is supposed to move freely in and out - it needs to so the rear suspension can move up and down.Originally posted by kammi10 View Postif your drive shaft did not just easily slide in something is wrong.. u should never have to tap on it to get it in.. mine slides in and out no problems at all-Joel

Nope, the trailshaft cover was cracked when we got the engine but not now. In any case, honestly I'm not going to worry about it - the driveshaft moves freely enough that I'm sure while driving it will be no issues it's just that we were at a bad angle and yadda yadda yadda. No offense guys, I do appreciate the input, but I'm getting a little too full of all the doomsday talk everyone spews every single time they see/hear something about the buildup.- Brian Meissen

Seriously, little kids. Quit worrying who has the last word. Drop it, move on. If you guys want to take a vacation, continue, I encourage it, otherwise knock it off. Sean, you too, I notice you always have to call him out in almost every single thread. Enough.- Brian Meissen

Problem is that I'm so damned stressed out from this buildup, when it will start, what will happen while it's running, etc etc that it's really wearing me down.
Can't sleep at night, too busy thinking about all the things I might have done wrong, what I haven't done, what I might have missed, what about that damn fram filter, etc. Just getting too overwhelmed.

It's looking good B, hang in there a little longer and it will all pay off! Looking through this thread there doesnt seem to be a single thing you have missed that you need to worry about, forget the Fram filter it will be fine especially for only 500 miles... Take a break and relax it will help you out I mean whats one more week anyhow? This car will be absolutley beautiful when you are done and it will be worth all the headaches that you have encountered!sigpic

beleive me brian i went through the same thing your going through right now.. its all so worth it in the end but the time right before it first starts up and until you do the first oil change your kinda nervous throughout the whole time. but you just gotta relax and remember when you start to get frustrated or mad just walk away and come back to it after you calmed down or the next day

lol yea - honestly thats what i realized about mine and why it took me the whole summer. the only thing causing me stress was when i "wanted to have it done by ___" 90% of the time i could just walk away for a day, or maybe even just ride my dirt bike for an hour, and come back refreshed w/new ideas.
Or sometimes you just need a couple bud lights

More set backs -
I'm 0 for 4 on parts.
- Lower Spring Seat for the front shocks (rubber piece the springs sit in) - Discontinued
- Coolant Sensor on the radiator - doesn't exist in GM's parts computer. The guy searched through the electrical categories and radiator components and could not find any sensor part #s.
- LT1 PCM mounting bracket - Discontinued
- LT1 PCM plugs - would have to be purchased as the whole harness, not sold individually, and the harness is discontinued anyway.

Out of all those, the Coolant sensor is the most important because until I find something to put in that hole I have an effective 1" diameter hole in the radiator that needs to be plugged. The car can be started while the PCM rests on the passenger shock tower, and the zip ties are holding the harness plugged into the PCM. Don't need the lower spring seat to start the car, but should need it to drive
