duhhh. i totally forgot you spark wires come off the front of the block ofcourse. hahahaha. ok now i understand.Originally posted by meissen View PostI believe I'm getting red wires. I forgot to specify and when I remembered and sent him a PM about the color he said he didn't think he made them yet so I should be getting red. I ordered it from the guy on LS1Tech that custom makes the wires to order.
The wires I ordered are designed for over the top of the valve cover. Stock wires go around the block and around the exhaust manifold into the spark plugs.2000 Trans Am l 1967 Firebird

I was reading around at what others set theirs to. We put ours to "4" on all 4 corners for now. We also installed the shocks so I can adjust them without having to remove anything so I can adjust as needed- Brian Meissen

How many settings are there ?Originally posted by meissen View PostI was reading around at what others set theirs to. We put ours to "4" on all 4 corners for now. We also installed the shocks so I can adjust them without having to remove anything so I can adjust as needed
Because the fronts should be set somewhere in the middle maybe a tad closer to firm, and the rears should be full soft or just above.
Remember this is baseline setup then you can taylor it to your needs.CraigSemi Retired Street Racer2012 Lava Red Mustang GT 5.0 MT82GONE BUT NOT FORGOTEN

there are 8 incriments so we just put them in the middle till he decides where he wants them. Makes sense to put front a little stiffer though.sigpic

We also have to remember that with the KYB's when you adjust them your adjusting compression and rebound together. Which means you'll be looking for a happy medium in regards to ride and handling.CraigSemi Retired Street Racer2012 Lava Red Mustang GT 5.0 MT82GONE BUT NOT FORGOTEN

8 settings, 1-8 that is. I've read some people say 1 was perfectly smooth, others like 4... both of those were on all 4 corners.- Brian Meissen

I know the conversation has kind of went away from this, but x2 on ls1tech search sucking!!!! Also, I know for a fact that my filter wasn't on there too tight, I put it on by hand, and my hand was covered in oil to make sure I didn't over-tighten it.

Just hard to believe all the issues with Fram when that's all I've used for the past 6 years. Not discrediting, but just saying from personal experience I've never had a problem.- Brian Meissen

well they're obviously still in business so they cant be the worst thing ever made. haha. i never had an issue when i used to run them. but i switched over to AC Delco when i heard about them clogging and such, just as a safety precaution. didnt want to become another statistic even if it is 1 in a million. hahaOriginally posted by meissen View PostJust hard to believe all the issues with Fram when that's all I've used for the past 6 years. Fram is not the same as in years past, same as everything else when people go cheap on internals and get bought/sold with different companies making them to new crap standards. Same thing happened to Mobil1 and royal purple motor oils, overpriced for what they really are offering now. As for Ls1tech, the mods left and the site is basically destroyed and lawsuits are flying. I suggest LS1.com for help with questions because they have many lt1,ls1,ls6,ls2 owners with knowledge.sigpicMODS: SLP DUAL/DUAL EXHAUST, 160 STAT, MTI LID, SHANER S3 T.B., SMOOTH BELLOWS, DESCREENED MAF, TUNNEL BRACE, UMI SFC & PHB, STRANO SWAY BARS, DRILLED/SLOTTED ROTORS, WHISTLER LIGHTS, BLACK BILLET GRILLE w/69'SS EMBLEM, BLACK SMOOTHED TAIL PANEL w/69'SS EMBLEM, BLACK SS HOOD INSERT, INTIMIDATOR SS WHEELS.

Frams used to be really good, but the company has changed for the worse in recent history.Originally posted by Plum Nuts View PostAmazing! I have used Fram Filters for more years than most of you are old. Never had a problem, used them on many different model cars including my Porsche. Someone mentioned they got better oil pressure using a certain filter, beware the oil pressure you read is the result of oil flow, the more restricted flow the higher the oil pressure. Example when main and rod bearing wear, more clearance oil flows easier and less oil pressure. So I believe there are good (all) oil filters and there are BETTER oil filter. Our plan was spend the money and put on the better filter after break in and also headers are not on so might need to change to different filter before we start it up.
I have no problem at all with keeping my wires away. I removed the stock looms and just let them hang. 3 or 4 zip ties keeps them out of harms way - even better than what the stock looms did. it took me less than a half hour to install them with no worries about the headers.Originally posted by Phantom383 View PostB, I would keep your over the valve cover wires!
You will have a heck of a time trying to keep the wires off the headers if you don't.
there is actually plenty of room between the headers and the block IMO. No offense, but Im convinced OTVC is a ricer appearance mod.The stockers work on the factory manifolds because they go up and curve down in the back leaving the bottom side open to run wires.
You are now going to be running LT's and all your pipes run down the side and close to the block.
My headers are lower and ive never scraped anything - not even a center mount floor hoist. Its barely lower than the k, im not the least bit worried about it. The camera angle makes it look worse than it is. Id rather have some extra oil at 6400 RPM.And Joel, I would be freaking out if my oil filter is below my K-member

Us LSx guys use the longer truck filters all the time. Actually quite common, defiantly not unheard of.Originally posted by 6pontiacs7 View PostI've also heard horror FRAM stories. I always just use AC Delco. I also agree with i think kyle said it...joel, holy crap! i would be scared too about the oil filter hanging down below the k-member! lolol. however I've never really heard of using a taller filter, is it really better if you can? also, brian, to clarify, did you order red wires? and these wires were designed to go around the valve covers? and if you run stock, they will go over the top of the valve covers?
