I'm not seeimg this mtr. going over 6200rpmOriginally posted by meissen View PostDon't know - depends on what Steve plans to tune it to spin to. I wouldn't want to go too much over 6000rpms from what I've read about the bottom ends not liking it.
what year is that engine B? 96-97's have P.M rods those short blocks can see 7000rpm all day 93-95, 95 being a cross over year some actually have the good rods in them. 93-95 lt1's I've spun 7000 and not had any problem, but I hear some have.SB tuning for all your porting and tuning needs.

Yup the PM rods have a cracked cap with no casting marks.Originally posted by JoeliusZ28 View Postive never heard of that, can you tell the difference from looking at them?
Dont use any silicone on rubber gaskets B for the oil pan just put a little in the corners use copper spray on the gasket itself.
Dont use plastic gauge PLEASE! call me Ill come down with my dial bore gauge and mic's
Arp rod bolts are not required but never a bad Idea, and yes they are pressed in.
Lucas or STP will work fine for cam lube
SB tuning for all your porting and tuning needs.

It's a 96 engine - <3 96+ LT1s.Originally posted by BLKHAWK View Postwhat year is that engine B?
What's P.M. stand for?
We're tentatively talking about not checking the bearings. The engine looks like it was well maintained and we're figuring it should be OK.Originally posted by BLKHAWK View PostDont use any silicone on rubber gaskets B for the oil pan just put a little in the corners use copper spray on the gasket itself.

Should we use the copper spray on all the gaskets? I remember you saying to use them on the exhaust gaskets, I think? Or was it the head gaskets we were talking about?
But should I use them on all of them - head gaskets, exhaust gaskets, intake gaskets, throttle body gaskets, etc?

P.M = powered metal, there good rods. I wouldn't bother pulling it down you could potentially make more problems for yourself.
use copper spray on the rubber pan gasket, and the header gaskets like we talked about. everything else should be installed dry. when you put the intake on you will need a dab of black silicone in the corners where the head meets the block.SB tuning for all your porting and tuning needs.
