        • I was just sayin, they are cheap, easy and the reason that everyone is scared to spin the LT1 over 6k.

i heard somewhere that GM spun them up to, or over 7500 rpm. so you'll be ok brian. if that's correct that is... haha

            • I don't believe that the Opti reads over 7k rpm. And go check out some LT1 sites, you go above 6k and your living on borrowed time. Sorry, didn't mean to cause such a huge ruckus, just thought I'd mention it.

I think it was acceptable to bring that up, it's very good information.

I totally would replace the bolts just to give me the piece of mind.

Another reason I love having an LS1. I wouldn't be afraid to spin to car to 7000 if I had the components to where it was still making power there.

                  • What exactly is the weak point of the rods? I know on LS1 cars it is the rod bolts themselves which I am replacing with ARPs. This will allow me to comfortably spin my motor to 7K with no issues. Is there a similar fix for Lt1 cars?

                    • I believe that its the same issue, the rod bolts stretch out. I'm sure that Joel can verify or shoot this down, he knows way more about it than I do.

                      • If thats the case why not upgrade to ARPs for $100 and run them like that.

That what I was thinking. Why wouldn't you if you already had the motor out of the car. Its cheep insurance.

If the car is going to make power all the way to 6500+ and you can take advantage of that for $60 bucks I really don't see why you wouldn't heavily consider it.
