I was just sayin, they are cheap, easy and the reason that everyone is scared to spin the LT1 over 6k.

i heard somewhere that GM spun them up to, or over 7500 rpm. so you'll be ok brian. if that's correct that is... hahaOriginally posted by my95z28 View PostI was just sayin, they are cheap, easy and the reason that everyone is scared to spin the LT1 over 6k.2000 Trans Am l 1967 Firebird

I don't believe that the Opti reads over 7k rpm. And go check out some LT1 sites, you go above 6k and your living on borrowed time. Sorry, didn't mean to cause such a huge ruckus, just thought I'd mention it.

I think it was acceptable to bring that up, it's very good information.Originally posted by my95z28 View PostSorry, didn't mean to cause such a huge ruckus, just thought I'd mention it.
I totally would replace the bolts just to give me the piece of mind.Last edited by MP81; January 27th, 2009, 08:38 PM.Gone but not forgotten: 1986 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z

Another reason I love having an LS1. I wouldn't be afraid to spin to car to 7000 if I had the components to where it was still making power there.Originally posted by my95z28 View PostI don't believe that the Opti reads over 7k rpm. What exactly is the weak point of the rods? I know on LS1 cars it is the rod bolts themselves which I am replacing with ARPs. This will allow me to comfortably spin my motor to 7K with no issues. Is there a similar fix for Lt1 cars?Doing less with more

I believe that its the same issue, the rod bolts stretch out. I'm sure that Joel can verify or shoot this down, he knows way more about it than I do.
