no problem with royal purple here, it is retardly expensive now, $9 a quart Where are you guys getting the German Castrol from and how much does it cost? Im willing to give it a try

German castrol can USUALLY be found at autozone, cant exactly remember how to ID it though, somewhere I bookmarked a thread on tech that told you how to id it.

My local Autozone and Pepboys carries the GC. You need to look for 0w30 European Formula on the front, and Made in Europe on the back near the Castrol seal of approval.

I have run GC in my car for the past 1-2 years. Its great stuff. You can get it at Autozone but not all of them. I have been to a bunch and the only one I have found to stock it was the on eat 13 Mile and Dequindre.

The Autozone at 22 & Van Dyke has it everytime I go in there.

I'm going to be using some O Reilly oil for my 500 mile break in and then switching to the GC.

wow - two pages of posts and I wasn't there for it! For once I had to catch up in the thread

Got a lot of little things done today leading up to the engine install... pretty happy with what we did so far, but we got a ways to go. Took us a casual 2 to 9 to get the v6 out, hope to get the v8 in and started by 4-5ish.

Here's what we have done so far:


Installed rag joint eliminator
Installed a couple things that I can't talk about until tomorrow...
Installed the ABS module
Wiped down the rubber houses to the heater core
Spliced in the LT1 radiator fan harness
Installed the spark wires only to pull them out to install the headers...

And some other stuff. All we have left to do before we bolt the kframe in is to get the oil dipstick tube bolted into place (harder than it sounds because of the headers) and then the engine is ready to go into the engine bay!!

These spark wires are loooooooooong too, that's for sure!!
