Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!
If you have any problems with the registration process or your account login, please contact us!
And MY GOD!!!!! is the steering rack clean! I never knew part of the steering rack was bare aluminum - I always thought it was all painted black. Damn.
Definitely look'n good!
Quick question. Several pages back, was there mention of a product that stops the brown cancer dead in its tracks? If so, what was it and does it really work? Thanks.
We're using two products. Guess it will be an informal test of both.
On the K-frame, a-arms, and spindle we've used ACE's "Rust Stop" (as in the store ACE Hardware). They have it at the 23 and Romeo Planke store.
On the under carriage and in the engine bay, I'm using POR-15.
Between the two - POR-15 is a tried and true product. Works great. Will (willasc) told me that he applied the POR-15 to his under carriage and had two things to note:
1, it does NOT stick well to smooth surfaces especially those without rust. He recommended only painting the POR-15 on the rust and then paint the rest of the under carriage with regular black paint so it'd all blend.
2, he said that where he did apply it to the rust, he used a scraper and couldn't get the por-15 off of the rust... it bonds that well.
The POR-15 can be a pricey package if you really get all the stuff. I got the degreaser, paint stripper, metal prep, and then the POR-15. Spent about $200 on the whole thing but I am estimating that I'm going to have way more than enough to finish the whole under carriage and engine bay.

Thanks for taking the time...I'm going to try the POR-15 (3 step) on a rear axle.

Hey guys - just curious. Obviously I'm not all the way through putting the compiled LT1 project thread together but I wanted to know if anyone appreciates that I'm doing that or do you guys think it's pointless? I thought it'd make it easier for people to go through and see the real project as a whole but my dad thought it was pointless. So what do you guys think?
Something that might be a good idea but a huge pita. Resize your pics. It takes my computer ages to load since there are a shit ton of them and they are huge.
