        • Cleaning the rest of the tranny parts.

Decide to gasket match and smooth out the runners on my new Accel base. TPIS gaskets finally arrived...just in time.

New Accel manifold...VERY hard to fine.

          Dremmel came in handy

Plenum is out getting a satin finish. Little mock up to see what it will look like. Glad I went with SS allen bolts.

          • Got the plenum back.....went for a satin/brushed finish to match the overflow canisters and tie the engine bay together.

            Mock up complete...look pretty good

              • Looks great.

                Stock runners?

I have the same intake base plate (found a NIB for $400) with slp runners, ported plenum, and lightly worked Edelbrock heads. I'm limited to 232 cfm by the heads, everything else flows a slight bit more.

                • More tranny rebuilding today. Assembly directions have two options...firm and firmest. Firmest sounds good.

Removing the old springs and installing the springs gave my thumbs a workout Pulled all the springs off the ring before I realized the I had to choose between firm and FULL RACE...oh well FULL RACE it is.

Added the .500 TV valve as well. Need to add thicker plates to the clutch pack to keep the tolerance within spec. Need to reduce .020"

                  Should be finished next week.

                  0.500 TV Valve

New blades, rings and springs installed

White "FULL RACE" springs installed...all 19 of them

                  LOTS of this stuff

Valve body cleaned and new holes drilled

FIRMEST is the only way to go....

Thanks for the info, I may go with vortec heads in a few years...depending on budget.

The runners are TPIS big mouth. I also bought the TPIS gasket set to port match.

                        Oops...that needs to be replaced

Gotta make sure all the little steel balls are in place...can't have missing balls !!

Value body DONE. Decided to get a new harness instead of reusing the old one.

                        Super Servo installed

Housing painted - always go with black

Just need to finish off the tail shaft and install the stall. Also have a TCI Alum pan going on next week.

Feels good to get the trans done....seems like it took all summer.

                        • very nice ! When I worked at a trans shop back in the day they would also use Vaseline to hold the check balls in place.

                          • I painted mine black too.
I attempted to rebuild mine and that failed miserably.

Seems like it took all summer.....wait, it did take all summer.

                              Gear installed

New bushing and seal installed thanks to the hydraulic press

Speedo Gear, seal and retainer clip installed

                              All assembled, ready for paint

                              Painted!!

Can hardly wait to add the stall and install this bad boy.

                              • Time to get back and finish off the engine.

                                Holley AFPR Installed

New South Side Injectors installed. Due to the TPIS runner size, had to remove the valve covers for clearance.

Back view of the motor with all the sensors and plug-ins completed

Valve covers re-installed. Not a fan of the wire harness on top of the valve covers. Might try spliting the loom in two and running them under the runner. Also re installed the MSD coil

Driver's side. Tucked the wire harness under the runners.

Hope to get the engine running next week. Want to test the motor before it gets installed.
