Im not financially ready yet but i got some questions b4 i get there... wats the best idea considering - price - install difficultly - horsepower gain - reliability . lt4 conversion kit or supercharger ?
i got a 1995 trans am with lt1 77k miles.. can a stock bottom end and tranny hold up ?

    none of the above

IMO an Advanced Induction cam package would give you the best results per $.

But thats wat the lt4 kit is right ? heads - cam - intake..( advanced induction ) or do u mean get other heads - cam and intake rather than the gm performance kit ?

      BTW dont u have a lt4 1fstss ?

Advanced Induction is a company. And those two options are very far apart from a price standpoint. I would agree with Brian, call up Advanced and have them quote you a price on a spec'ed cam, set of heads, and an intake porting. Will make lots more power than an LT4 top end kit, and will be cheaper than a centripetal supercharger.

The lt4 is way over-rated. Even stock lt1 heads and intake will flow much better than an lt4 with a proper port polish job. And the lt4 cam/hot cam is very mild compaired to other cams on the market at the same cost. If you really want the lt4 just paint your intake red and call it an lt4. No one who drives it will tell the differance.

Stock LT1 are not boost friendly due to the high compression ratio and hypereutectic pistons.

I am a believer of KISS- Keep it Simple Stupid. If it was my car I would have the heads gone through(maybe with some port work), an AI cam package, and full bolt ons.

The LT4's performed well and they sound good but If you are going to do all of that work why not spend a little extra and have a car that should run mid-high 12s instead of low 13s. (LT4 Camaros ran low 13s in the reviews)

I bumped my compression up and little bit and im going to give AI a call and see what kind of cam kit they can spec up to make the most power. I'm kindof copying Joel's setup

                  They are junk!
Search them out on the web......no one was happy with them for the money.
You need to figure out what you want to do with the car and go from there.....daily driver, race and what goals do you want HP wise.

So my best bet is to send off my stock heads and intake to advanced induction rather than buyin new ones ?

btw my car only goes out on nice days so its not an everyday driver and its not a race car it only goes to shows and cruise around on nice summer days im just lookin for a litte more power for thos people that wanna mess with me at the stoplight... but im not lookin for for an unstreetable monster..

Like phantom said. Figure out what you want to do with the car and then HP goal and give AI a call. IMHO the extra 2kish you spend on getting your heads done is a little much for the potential 30 HP that you make.

But really it's only around 2k initially to get to roughly 400hp. Then an additional 2k for head jobs which will get you 30hp.

Not sure where you are getting your numbers from, Bryan. AI's 21 degree head and cam kit will run around 4k but their 190cc street kit with head porting will be in the lower 3k range (heads, cam, intake work, rockers, lifters, etc etc)

Need to know more about the car to make a better suggestion. A4 or M6? If A4, are you willing to buy a new converter? Also, what gears are in the rear end?
