        • I installed my sway bar last night. It took some trial and error to get it centered between the hotside pipes and the tie rod but now I have plenty of clearance to both.

Does having a swaybar make me lose cred with the racecar crowd? lol

          Clearance to tierod...

          Clearance to hotside...

          No loss of ground clearance

          • Nice setup. I wish I would have sent his kit when I started mine. But mines going in a third gen. But I did just pick up a 99 Z so who knows. I know that I have way more money, not including time into my setup than the huron kit costs. Nice car man!

            • Thanks Andy! We'll have to meet up sometime so I can show you why you need one of these kits for your 99

                  • Same exact setup i want for my car. Your car is clean and you did an amazing job with the install. I might need to come to the other side of the state and take a ride in your car to push me over the edge to buy it. Acutally just need to put my wife in your car cause i already know i want it and that would give me the green light!! HAHA, Great job. Also do you have any dyno numbers or track times yet??

Thanks! That's funy b/c my wife hasn't ridden in my car since the turbo and she probably never will...lol.

No dyno numbers...I tune myself on the street. Took it to the track last fall and at 6psi I was hitting the rev limiter at 121.5mph. Best ET was 11.8 but it doesn't count b/c I'm a 6 speed (1.8sec 60')

This year I plan to increase the boost (after installing new gears) and my goal is 130-135mph

                      • Yeah my wife loves my car and going fast. She has a drag car of her own!! Guess i was lucky and got a rare one. HAHA. What would it take for you to send me that list you made up of all the turbo parts you got and how much it cost?

                          • I’m finally getting back on this project after a long winter. When I put the car away last fall I was running 6psi on the gate. This is my first turbo car so I feel 6psi was a good starting point to dial in my tuning skills with boost but now I’m ready for more power. I’m thinking my next step will be 9 psi at which point I will likely be out of fuel (Racetronix 255 + hotwire). Fuel will get addressed within the next year as my budget allows but for now I am working with what I have.

I picked up a Turbosmart E-boost street which I’m mounting in front of my shifter. I need to wire / plumb it yet but I got the headunit installed.

I also decided to swap out my LS9 springs for some Brian Tooley’s. I wish I had spent more time researching springs before installing the LS9’s because installing the new valve seals is kind of a pain with the heads installed (especially the rear 4 cylinders). The BTR’s seem to be very nice and other than struggling with a few of valve seals the install went really well.

The next item on my agenda is a gear swap. I only made it to the track once after installing the turbo but I was hitting the rev limiter at 121.5mph at 6500rpms with 26x10 ET Streets and 4.10 gears. I’m thinking about installing 3.50’s which would net 142mph using the same tire and 6500 limiter (142 is higher than my goals for this cage-less heavy ass street car).

Question: I also considered 3.25’s but since the turbo already spools fine (even with 4.10’s) is there any other benefit to a lower (numerically) gear?

                            Comment

                            • IMO gear it so you have just enough MPH before crossing the traps. You can always spin the motor higher if you need to go faster than 142 for whatever reason. Revving the car to 7000 or even going to a 28" tire for the track will get you more than enough MPH with the 3.50 gear.
