Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

Coming along nice, as the others said totally jealous of the drain, I am very surprised they allowed you to do this. I am of course assuming permits where pulled and inspections where made?

Its easier to ask for forgiveness if caught, than to ask for permission
Nope, same way over here. But if we would have not done things the "right" way, we wouldn't have lost a million dollars. Why do you think I am starting to look around so early? It is easier/cheaper to find a way around zoning rather than trying to comply with it.
There is not many ways around zoning, because even if you buy a house that is grandfathered in the way that you want it the second you touch the structure (house/garage) and alter it or improve it they will make you comply with the new zoning laws... However if you do it on the down low and not tell anyone or pull any permits you can get away with it, depending on where you live.
I never pulled a permit for the bathroom remodel I am doing or anything else for that matter, but what Warren doesnt know doesnt hurt them,
Permits were pulled although nothing has been inspected yet b/c the inspector has been in the hospital for several weeks. My builder is very familar with the area and he is the one that suggested the drain (i never really gave it much thought to be honest) so I'm assuming it's OK. If not, I guess I will need to beg for forgiveness
that is awesome, I am surprised they dont have a sub inspector or something. Its going to be hard for them to go back on you now since the barn is already up and permits where pulled. That takes the responsibility from you and its the cities fault they dont have someone working as a inspector! So your off the hook! I love it!
I am sure the drain is allowed if the contractor said it was, they know the code inside and out (most of the time and if they are good), most places have just stopped allowing the drains, although I dont know why. Fred (LUCKYSOB) has a drain in his garage in royal oak, but thats of course because it was built when there were no rules. If I had one I would do what someone else mentioned and put cardboard over it for the inspection then break it back out!
My township is probably 80% agriculture so I'm not surprised they don't have a sub inspector. Either way I think you are right that I am off the hook b/c the contractor left holes open around 2 poles and had the drain installed almost 2 weeks before the concrete was poured waiting on the inspector. Finally the township told him to go ahead and move on
Long story but the president of my association doesn't really like my barn placement even though he approved it (I think he expected the township to turn it down and he didn't want to be the bad guy - now that the township approved it he started to complain). Going strictly by the rules of our association I would need to pour 120' of concrete to the barn if I want a driveway. When I purchased the lot I was told that it didn't need to be concrete but I don't have anything in writing so I don't want to push my luck with the association and I dont have the money right now. My original plan was to drop a drainage tile in the ditch and have gravel for a few years but my fear is that they could force me to pour concrete. For now I am just going to drive over my lawn and I will re-evaluate the situation in a few years once the prez calms down and I have more money.
That was my plan as well, but I just found out a few weeks ago that since the driveway would be going to a paved surface that the driveway must be paved as well. Which is retarded, I live on the corner of a paved and dirt road, I was hoping to get away with gravel, but there not going to let it happen.
Before and after idle clips from my car. Before is PatG 230/234 Cam with Livernois Stage 2 LS6 heads. After is LS6 cam with 317 heads. I need some turbo spool bad b/c this thing sounds like a grampa's car now!

Ahh a car that idles nice. You will grow to love that lol. Makes much better fuel milage (when not beating on it) and all around better driver than a big cammed car.
Nice choice on LS9 valvesprings btw also. If you are running under 580"lift you cant beat them for the $$. Lingenfelter checks all of them and sells the best of the batch. They are a good spring considering a zr1 vette can run a 550 lift cam with 10 psi for 100k+ miles. Just depends on the app really.
Also are you running LS9 head gaskets on a 5.7?
This looks like it will be a beautiful car when its done. 317/ls6/boost works well, will last, and drive great. Plus you can tell mustangs you have a stock motor they wont hear a cam lope. Good job on this. I seriously look forward to seeing it all done.
+1 for the Huron Speed kit as well. It looks very clean and well put together.
I had the same thoughts about the LS9 head gaskets but they have been used numerous times in 4.8, 5.3, 5.7, and 6.0 liters without issue. Seems to be the goto gasket for FI these days no matter the c.i.
