The bottle heater thermostat screws into the side of the bottle near the valve. It is a normally open switch that takes a pressure reading (from being screwed into the side of the bottle) and then turns closed at 1000ish psi. It's function is to not allow the bottle to get over recommended pressure.

I had issues with mine and ended up removing it. I wanted to have full control on where I wanted pressure at. Most experiences nitrous users and guys who go very fast and safe with it will tell you to throw the thermostat and FPSS in the garbage. Both can cause inconsistency. Having them is basically a band aide, one for not paying attention to bottle pressure and the other for a weak fuel system.

Just my 2 cents. The thermostat is not really that bad, but I would ditch the FPSS. Do a search on tech and all the fast guys say the same.

you can do it either way. pressure or temp.
          bottle temp of
          80 869
          85 950psi
          97 =1070

Seems like temperature would be more reliable than a pressure switch, or am I wrong?

Do they make a kit or something to do it with a temp sender?

No, the pressure is much more reliable and more accurate

i agree with ryan, i had a thermostat on my car and it would never get the bottle to good pressure, not that my car was fast by anymeans but i just kept and eye on the heater and turned it off when i got to temp/pressure.

Good to know. I will get a pressure switch then.

I had a lot of crap pulled out of the way and stuff preparing for tear down. Got bored tonight so pulled some other stuff, yanked the coil packs, covers, rockers, and pushrods. The 6.0 looks clean as a whistle on the inside.

Going to pull the power steering pump tomorrow, and if I can get a drain pan, the water pump and radiator. Should just leave me with the front cover and pulley. Got the JRP lifter holder uper things today (Dave is letting me borrow them, Thanks Dave!) Ive always used pen magnets before, wanted to try something different.

Should be done and back together by the end of the weekend! Then comes the hard work, the n2o install.......

Thinking about taking it and having it tuned NA ASAP so I can enjoy the car, April 1st is the day I usually get it out. Then fiddle with the spray and take my time so I get it how I want and go see the doctor again for a re tune. Thoughts?

I agree with your tuning plan. Get it tuned NA first since that is where most of your time is spent anyways. Take your time installing the N2O and get it tuned for that when ready

Realized today I still dont have a n2o filter, or the pressure switch ordered.... Any place in particular thats best to get that stuff from?

Does anyone local have an 85mm lid I could borrow to check for fitment with the plate? I screwed around with some different coupler's the last 2 nights and it really doesnt look like there is going to be enough room unless I get that MAF moved forwards. Getting an 85mm lid looks like it will give me 3/4 to 1in of extra space.

another alternative for you is to cut the snout of the lid back about an inch, I have an 85mm lid you could borrow to try but you'll have to modify soething either way.

Huh, wow. Gotta say, I kinda feel like an idiot for not thinking of that.... I will investigate that tonight.

I need solenoid brackets, was getting ready to order them but thought I should ask if anyone here has any?

Was going to get either this style
                            IMG_0767.jpg

                            Or this style

Is there an advantage to either? I cant use the hardlines pictured in the first setup as my plate has the the fittings on the sides, not the back, so that doesnt mean much to me.

                            Otherwise, thoughts?

Personally, I like the look of the second setup and they're probably easier to access.

second look better IMO I think HSW has some that mount to the plate as well, no advantages really just looks same with the hardline its just cleaner to some.
