what head/cam you looking to go with? How much boost? if you plan on spraying anything over a 50 shot on top of a blown stock block.... its not a good idea, then you will literally be blown.

I'm not too much into the FI applications, but am curious what types of boost folks were succesfully putting through a stock bottom end?

Stock bottom end is said to hold up to 500 on FI anything over is on borrowed time.

So on a decent H/C combo he's be around 425-450 and then boosted? He's only going to be able run like 3lbs of boost, then talking about shooing it w/ some gas? I think I'd forge the bottom end first then worry bout the rest. Of course I always like to be on the safe side.

yeah the bottom end is going to be getting work on.... im lookin at a top mount blower Kenne Bell has one that they just came out with on 5.5 PSI they are puttin down 505 with intake new fuel injectors its that or the D-1sc but i don't like that cause they have been having belt slipage and ill probly run a 50 or 100 shot to cool it down plus itll give me alil extra

With a good H/C combo built for boost you'll usually lower the compression with some 6.0 litre heads and a blower cam which probably won't push 450, so you figure that with a nice D-1 kit running 10lbs and matched fuel ect. 550 is probably the most your looking at.

my dad in his 02 SS LE just put down 689@5500 RPM (cam revs to 6900) on a set of dart heads and a D-1 he only went to 5500 because the intake temp jumped up like 100 degrees at 5500 so they backed out. he had the car tuned at EPP on thier mustang dyno. hes having bigger intercoolers made for it (hes complicated like that he wants the intercoolers in the same spot as the standard ATI coolers) if you want to shoot to be like any LS1 derek, shoot to be like my dads.

well zspot... its hard to explain but, you can run more boost than jsut 3 psi on tops of a heads cam car. However, most head/cam combos arent very FI friendly and wont work very well together and not put down the numbers. Like you said, 425-450 rwhp is a radical NA set up and would not work very well with FI. Most head/cam FI set ups are heads that will lower the CR, which will allow you to run a bit more boost safely since FI likes the lwoer CR, and a cam that is FI friendly, usually not very big and on a higher LSA. So pretty much FI freidnly head/cam combos by themselves without the boost wont be very powerful na, but will shine in the boost and help you get into boost quicker, run more boost safely, more rpms up top, etc. Usually with a turbo about 8 psi is as much as you want to go and be safe, much more is borrowed time. You can go a bit higher with a supercharger as turbo's put down a bit more rwhp over a supercharger on the same psi. Hope this helps.

yep anytime, i've put my time into researching FI. Many many things to consider when going into FI that includes specific head cam specs, fuel, boost, exhuast, heat, etc.
