  • How to add power to a 3.4L V-6

What can I do to the 3.4L in my 94' camaro to give it a little more power without doing an engine swap.

  • #2
Best thing to do in my opinion is to let the car breathe easier. Get a cold air intake, headers, highflow cat, and catback exhaust. If you want to do some engine work without swapping the engine, there's a really good post about switching the heads, intake plenum, and pistons in your 3.4L to make your car fast enough to beat a 96 z28 convertible.

What times are you trying to run and what kind of budget you looking at? There are some different routes you can go depending on what you want to spend and the times you are looking for. I have a nice list of 3.4 mods made with prices that I am working on for my website I am doing.

Also what do you have, auto or manual? What gears and such as well?

I was going to mod the hell outta my 3.4 too, but then I decided to swap in my V8 and mod the hell outta it. I say, if you can make that 3.4 beat a 5.7, more power to you! Good luck, and let me know what you come up with!

The best route would be to save your marbles up and go turbo.

You can buy a nice Garret Turbo for a couple hundred off of EBay, but that is just for the turbo. You could also save up and buy all of the ductwork and everything. A nice turbo setup shouldn't cost you more than about $1500 used.

Tiago's 3.4l turbo kit is perfect for the 3.4l fbody. http://www.force-fed-fabrications.com/index2.htm is the website. They are making some really nice numbers with the stock bottom end.

There is also a supercharger for the 3.4l fbody. I will get a link in a little bit for that.

                      DAMN! A 12 SECOND 3.4 V6! I think I'll skip the V8 swap and buy a turbo kit!

yea he has a really nice 3.4 turbo kit pushing some good power. He also has his heads and intake p&p and a cam I believe. Bottom end is stock though.

http://rsmracing.com/catalog.htm has the 3.4 supercharger kit. However it is $4400 compared to the $3000 for the tiago turbo kit.

http://www.fullthrottlev6.com/forums...ad.php?t=13187 This guy is selling some pacesetter 3.4l headers. Sounds like they aren't coated. He wants $125 shipped.

Might be cheaper by the time you are done, and way more stealthy!!!

You think it would be cheaper even though I already have a V8 and a 4L60E tranny ready to swap?

you still will need a kmember (I don't think yours will work in the fbody), springs, and the headaches of swapping. Plus better gas mileage and cheaper insurance. But yea it's up to you
