You would be surprised what you can do with a wool pad on a buffer, and much more quickly than using sandpaper. He evenly wet-sanded every square inch of that car which is something you normally only do on a show car headed to autorama or something. Normally you can get away with wetsanding the upper-area of the body where most of the light reflects and hits your eyes. The reason you do wet-sand like that is typically NOT for scratch or dulling correction but rather to remove orange peel in the clear coat by leveling it out although it can do both. The science behind that is sandpaper used properly only hits the high points of the clear coat whereas a whool pad will hit everything.Originally posted by nooncha View PostThanks for the info, I really appreciate it. As an example I wetsanded my entire truck lightly when i bought it but the reason i did it was not because of scratches (it hardly had any at all) but rather because it was the easiest way to remove 6 years of grime that had built up on the paint, during which the truck had never seen a good cleaning. Normally a clay bar would suffice for this job but I killed two birds with one stone going straight to wetsanding. This truck still has a lot of the factory orange peel that the person in the above link removed entirely and it still looks good. (Every vehicle rolls off the line with some degree of orange peel).
Unfortunately i never took a good before picture but you can see the road grime behind the wheels if you look close.

Hot rod.
Man, I need to put that buffer to good use this summer and make my paint real nice and shiny.

My car desperately needs this kind of attention after I gave it a wash before the winter and saw the paint is in much need of attention. This may save me a lot of money if I can do this instead of getting the whole car repainted.

I cannot blend color but i can blend the edge so it isnt so "abrupt"-Joel
