Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

What are people using to clean up chrome wheels. I always used armor wheel cleaner on my salad shooter but i figure there prolly better cleaner for my new ones 0510001223..jpg
For normal cleaning, I use the Armor All wheel cleaner, normally I hate AA stuff but the wheel cleaner is really effective for brake dust, tar, dirt, etc.
However, if you have actual chrome corrosion, a spray on won't work - you will need to use a paste cleaner. I use MAAS metal polish, it's a pain to apply and remove but it works like a charm. A Mother's powerball (small one) will help speed the polishing part. Count on a few hours of work though.

Make sure that you wax them after cleaning so you don't have corrosion issues. I think Eagle One makes a cleaner that has some sort of wax for protection as well. But Meguiar's ftw. Also, don't neglect the barrels.
I just recently started using a eagle one wheel and tire cleaner. works really well and i can imagine the mothers stuff is even better. i clean my car religiously and it still got crap off of my rims that i couldn't get. if you clean them once every 1-2 weeks you shouldn't have a problem with corrosion or pitting.
I generally just clean my wheels with soap and water, then dry with a synthetic chamois. As mentioned, you can't neglect the barrels, and be sure you pay close attention to the areas around the lug nuts. I like to take my wheels off at least once or twice a summer to give them a thorough cleaning, removing any road tar or any other residue on the wheels. This also makes it easier to clean the barrels (obviously) and also the surfaces that are normally inaccessible while the wheels are mounted. I've used the Meguiar's paste chrome polish for stains on chrome, and as already mentioned, it's a PITA. There are some other pretty strong products out there, but for the most part, if they aren't stained, I've had good luck with soap and water on my chrome wheels, followed by a coat of wax.
Mothers 5101 Mag & Aluminum Polish Paste with the powerball.. works amazing, i do that every month or so but just to get the brake dust and stuff off of just a spray detailer such as Turtle Wax Ice ect. here is a pic of mine.. in a garage so doesn't look "shinny" lol[IMG][/IMG]
sorry to steal this thread but quick question. My friend has 5 spoke 4th gen rims in chrome and all leak air 10lbs a week, if he gave them to me where could I go to get them fixed?

fix 'em yourself. 3" wire wheel on your drill across both beads, should do wonders.
A dollar store near me sells stuff called "totally awesome" it's a universal heavy duty cleaner/ degreaser and It works just as good if
not better than my turtle wax wheel cleaner. Works great for regular use and took of a lot of the grime and dirt caked on from the pervious owner. Best part is its under $2 for a 20oz spray bottle.
you have to be careful with chrome wheels. some spray on brake dust cleaners ard acidic and can cause chrome to lift off with prolonged use. Soap and water is best, don't let the brake dust build up. Clean them often.
I use heavily diluted simple green to get brake dust/dirt off, then soap and water. When i get some corvette rims or deep dish ws6 rims then il use something better
