as i understand it, the 3.8l just uses a torque spec for the adjustment. i havent been able to track it down as yet.Originally posted by ShahIm hearing some ticking noises. Im not sure it that is the problem, but I want to try and fix it before I take it to a mechanic.
are you confident that tick you hear is either lifter or rocker arm? do you have access to a mechanics stethoscope?
is the tick only at cold startup? only after hot? does it seem directly related to engine rpm?

1. Im am not 100%, but from talking to some of the guys it seems to be the rocker/lifter.
2.No stethoscope
3. Only at cold start up, then lessenes when engine gets warm. I havent let it heat up all the way.
4. Ticking increases with increase in rpms

yup 11lbs and then 90*
http://cv6.fakeleg.com/techfiles/3.8...epair_proc.pdf
page 24 of 27 has the torque specs.
You will need a torque wrench. Also be careful as the stockers I believe are TTY (torque to yield). You will also probably need a valve cover gasket just to make sure it doesn't leak when you put it back on
