  • Cam Install Underway

well we just started the cam swap on Sean (Keego Ridahs) formula in my garage. it's Sean, myself (SS4Matt), Rob Mac (RobM) and Sean from CARS hussling like crazy to see if we can get this done tonight...or atleast by tomarrow....shouldn't take long, we started about an hour ago, and the heads are almost off....i'll snap some pictures in a few...but back to work i go...just thought i'de throw it out there....

Sean is getting the same cam i have in my SS!

Awesome, good luck, Im sure you guys can get it done in one day if you dont slack off too much .

Are you changing the heads too or are you taking em off just to make the spring change easier?

Yeah..I was wondering the same thing...

The cam swap on an LSX motor is easy. No pulling heads, just make sure to install a couple of dowels into the holes on each side of the cam to hold the lifters up as you swap the cam. I assume you got the install guide of the LS1Tech boards?

I think they can handle the install without the info on the boards.

Hurry up i want to hear it.

        Your not done yet. j/k

But thats sweet let me know when i can bring mine over i got 90% of the parts.

haha we got a case in the fridge. we are taking the heads off because it will be way easier to swap the patriot dual springs with the heads off, that and we will be able to lap the valves while they are off. along with the fact that when we take the heads off, we can yoink the lifters so they have no way of "falling" if they aren't in!

i think between the fact that Sean From CARS (sponsor) is an ASE cert. mechanic, myself who has done this a few times now, and Rob who's helped me with mine a few times and everything else, we really don't need any "instructions" might use alldata to check some torque specs right quick, that's about all though.

should be rumblin by tonight or tomarrow...

well my camera is dead, i don't have any more batteries for it, and by the time i do get batteries i think this will be done. the heads are off already, the springs have been swapped. i already dropped the oil pan to get the oil pump pickup off....swapped the chain, put the pump and chain back on. (never once did i drop the bolt either! and we disassembled the oil pump so the oring was visable and not pinched!)

the new cam is in now. only thing left is to clean all the head bolt holes and clean the heads up some and put the heads, headers, and intake back on (waterpump and power steering pump as well)
