  • Fuel pump mounting location

there's no specific part on this forum for fueling so I figured I would throw it here, if it has to be moved, have at it....

Trying to figure out a few options on where I can mount my external pump... Not alot of places to put it, just trying to get some ideas

1 picture.. on the first photo i was thinking about throwing it behind the bumper but kinda down a little (pump has to sit lower then the sump)... on paper it looks good but after seeing ryans pumps get a little scraped i really don't want to risk it if it does want to wheelie.

3 picture.... No room at all unforunately lol

4/5 picture... I like this option the most, in the 4th pictue you can see the 2 threaded holes in the drivers side frame rail, i was thinking of getting some 1/4 thick plating, roughly whatever the width of the pump is.. Cut a piece and weld it on a 90 degree and throw 2 bolts into the frame rail. then lay the pump like it is in pic 5 roughly with my 4 little rubbe isolaters and call it a day...

Just trying to get some opinions and see wher you guys have your external pumps mounted, not looking to get bashed just some opinions/info and yes Jim you can make your race car comment if you would like Thanks

I hope, my motor is 10 years old now, outdated technology, .550 baby lift cam and a set of junk heads vs a fresh .600 plus lift cam, more duration, way better heads, running race gas at the track and to top it off you got the old experienced man behind the wheel driving. I usually bring a pillow and blanket when I go to the track 2 lengths and we have a deal, you got all the panties in yours which makes It go faster all the fat girls ride in mine cause its lowered and they can fit in it! anyways guys back to the fuel pump!

I know Sean (kammi10) mounted his with a bracket off the panhard bar, I like the frame rail but you def need to have some other plate or isolaters to keep it below the sump. We went through the same debate here and just came to the conclusion that we would rather mount it low and give the pump the best chance at surviving than to risk burning up the pump by hiding it up higher.

Yup agreed, I want it lower then the sump. I would rather have it full of fuel then have it tucked up and starving. I planned on making that plate come down about 8 to 10 inches so its about 2 inches lower then the sump. Do u have any photos of where you guys stuck yours? Im just trying to drum up some ideas.

Put it where mine are. mine really didnt even touch the track surface and I was ON the back bumper, plus I have 2 A1000's the the one furthest back is the one that would be lowest. It just touched the track surface enough to get a little rubber on it. Its not scraped at all, come by and see it.

ours is in the same spot, although our isolaters look to be a little thicker than Ryan's. I highly doubt we will come close to hitting the bumper let alone the pump I am just not a fan of it sticking out like a sore thumb.

Got ya man, where did you get your isolators from and who makes them? the ones i have i don't care for (aeromotives), they stick the pump down another 2 inches.

aeromotives here as well, going to run them and see how loud it is and decide if I want to find an alternative or not.
