well im glad i started researching this in advance, because the guy I bought my SS hood from saw one of my threads about this on another site and said he would sell me his hot cam with 5k miles on it this spring for ... well, a steal.

sooo. im thinkin about trying 1.7 rockers on the hotcam with some stiffer springs. that should be good for 350rwhp, no?

The cylinder heads and the intake are holding back the power more then the camshaft. 1.7 ratio rockers are not a good idea on the old SBC valvetrian architecture without some other upgrades and geometry changes to make them work like taller valves etc.

Well im thinking about doing a complete valvetrain refresh even though my car probably isnt even close to needing one. but even so, im probably just gonna end up using 1.6s.

are you sure about this... this guy did 1.7s on a 92 corvette: http://www.wku.edu/~nathan.plemons/h..._corvette.html

Without a taller valve the geometry trys to push the valve guieds out of the head. youd need a taller studs, valves and pushrods to keep the pushrod angulairty down to something reasonable.

yeah I asked about the 1.7's when I did mine and got more or less the same answer. Best to stick with the 1.6's because your not makeing a full out drag car...bigger isnt always better
The Chevy Camaro was built with a single purpose in mind which it executes flawlessly...Going very very fast in a straight line until your hair catches on fire.
