K. I'm planning on ordering headers within the next week for the Camaro (3800). I just can't justify spending around $150 more for a lustrous coating. Can't I just get by with purchasing the painted headers and use header coating or something of the sort for way cheaper?

If you get the painted ones, to keep them nice, you need to sandblast the paint off and apply a better paint and then bake it on. Honestly, if you can swing the coating price, its well worth it.When in doubt, Whip it out !

I have painted pacesetters, and I wish I would have heat wrapped them before installing them, might help keep the rust down, even if it don't you won't see it.sigpic

I would go coated. I put painted Pacesetters on my TA in 06. Traded them to a buddy when I sold the car. I got them back this year when I bought that same buddys car.
They look like hell now. He even repainted them before we put them on his car.
Next go around I'm gonna buy either coated or stainless.
Sucks having to buy shit twice.

Coat em.
I ****** around with painting my Cobalt's header twice, and had the POR-20 burn off, twice. I will be spending my money at Jet-Hot in a few months to have it ceramic coated inside and out.Gone but not forgotten: 1986 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z

Wouldn't it be cheaper and just as effective as the armor coated ones if I coat them and bake them myself with the help of an experienced friend??
