Very clean setup! It looks factory.

Ive heard that same kind of thing all the time throughout ownership of my car:
      • First an exhaust shop told me a cutout wouldnt gain me any horsepower on a stock engine. That was ... Wrong.
      • Then another exhaust shop told me a 2" y-pipe without a good merge would flow plenty for a stock engine. After I fabbed my own 2.5" y-pipe I learned that was ... Wrong.
      • Then I heard over and over on tech forums that 3" duals was overkill for my cam-only engine and that I would see no gain going to that over a single 3" because the single 3" was already flowing plenty for my power levels. That also ended up being ... Very wrong.

I don't know if its an LT1 thing or not, but in the various 5 or 6 exhaust changes ive made my car has always reacted positively to extra breathing capacity.

A dual 3" from a single 3" is going to be huge..... a 2.5" dual would also have been huge over a single 3". Vettes come with 2.5" duals and flow on blower cars in the 800's

It looks very similar to the BASSANI system available for 98-02 cars already. That system is about $900 bucks for stainless.

That looks really nice! Too bad all that great fab work is coupled to a pair of shorties. Any gain you are getting from that exhaust is being killed by those shorties unfortunatley.

They're mid-lengths and have 1-3/4" primaries. I've had this style (Arizona Speed & Marine though) before on my blower car, I actually lost power going to Hooker Long Tubes on the same dyno. One of the fastest LT1s back in the day ran a set of the AS&M mid-lengths and made over 800rwhp with them. I'm not worried about it. Besides, the ground clearance I get with mid-lengths is worth more to me than the small power difference if there actually is one. I might be giving up a little low-end torque because of the shorter primaries, but I won't be disappointed.

It's all about having a plan and building a car to meet your specific goals, which is exactly what I did. I did the duals more for the sound and the potential to grow with them in the future.

No, that's cool, I wasn't bashing the choice for it, just stating that it is alot of effort to run that exhaust up to a set of shorties, or mids as you call them. I mean, after all, I'm running a stock catback on my magnacharger.

Thanks again everyone! Gonna try and get a vid soon. Still got a couple issues to work out but the car is running well enough to get an idea on sound.

I've received the comment more than once now that it "sounds different for an LT1." I love it. Super deep & surprisingly quiet.

im just saying just because X diameter is sufficient for Y horsepower doesnt mean X+1 diameter isnt going to perform better. University SAE cars get over 100 HP out of engines with a dime-size restrictor plate.

As usual, the vid doesn't even remotely do the exhaust justice, but you get the idea. It sounds much better in person.
