Welcome to the Michigan FBody Association website.
The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. MiFbody.com was created to allow for an easy one-stop place to find out what's going on in Michigan as far as FBody events, to find out what clubs are available in your immediate area, and for an easy place to post classifieds for items you want to sell! Our goal was to create a more close-knit community of FBody enthusiasts in the state of Michigan, and to bring Camaro and Firebird enthusiasts alike together for some amazing FBody events!
The most important thing to know about the Michigan FBody Association is that we are NOT a club! The Michigan FBody Association is open to everyone, and is a community. Thus, we will have get togethers, casual cruises, events, and such like that, but this is not an exclusive club and it's 100% free to join this site! So what are you waiting for? Register now!

If possible I'd like to use my BBK TB on the new engine. I believe the guy told me it was just the next step up from stock. My question is, is a tune required for this? My mechanic says the comptuer should be able to tell, but I've talked to EVI and they said I'd have to get the car tuned. So basically I want to get more opinions rather or not I would need a tune. If I need a tune I'll just be selling it.
I've always been told any time you change something that affects how much air is being pumped into the engine or out of the engine, a tune is a good thing to have done.

Thanks in advance!
mark doesnt your car need a tune anyway... why not just wait until you can get the tune to put the TB on???
hes putting a stock motor back in...then putting the new TB on the stock motor.
EVERY car will benefit from a good tune. I would just put it on and be done with it, after you do more mods, go get it tuned.
$500.00 to spend every time you change something can get pretty $$$$ in my book. I know you have your headers (I hope your going to put back on).
Your performance might suffer a little, but until you get the $$ for the tune just stick it on and drive.
As stated earlier, if its an automatic transmission, you cant just put it on, it will mess up your shifts. I dont know what transmission he has, but IMHO a stock motor will not benefit from a larger throttle body. Id sell it and spend the money else where, cause it sounds like money is kinda tight on this unexpected swap. Eric L
1997 Camaro SS #2819 M6, Red, 3.42, 1 of 27, Ttops, BBK shorty headers, Flowmaster cat back, 1.6 rr, LT4 valve springs, ASAM CAI, Centerforce clutch, runs 12s, breaks 10 bolts. http://s602.photobucket.com/albums/t...20Camaro%20SS/
anything that significantly changes the volumetric efficiency of an engine requires a tune.
Chances are that throttle body isnt even close to being a choke point for flow, so unless you have a cam, ported heads, intake, and an LS1 lid you arent telling anyone that are outflowing the capacity of a stock throttle body... no you dont need a tune.

Was coming in here to say exactly that - on an LT1 there's no real reason to upgrade the throttle body unless you're pushing some serious horsepower.
I have found that people over think and over spend often when doing bolt ons. The KISS theory applies to our cars, and works well......................very well. Eric L

I'm going to have a 94 LT1 motor out of a Caprice put in. It'll be stock except for the headers and exhaust. My mechanic said he was going to put my intake on as well, not sure why on that. He wanted to put my aluminum heads on until he took them apart last night, but that's another thread.
I also have a stock PCM from the old owner, plus the engine I'm getting is suppose to be complete including the PCM. So I'm going to have a total of 3 PCM's. 2 will be going for sale after the car is going.
