The Michigan FBody Association is a centralized website for FBody enthusiasts to discuss what's going on in the Michigan area. may be a stupid question but does cutting into the metal weaken the vehicle any? I would be hesitant to hack it up

I am sure to some degree it does. I was hesitant to do it myself. But now that its said and done i have 2 observations:
1) HOLY S*** does it ever pull hard. I'll risk it.
2) The sheetmetal used in that radiator cross-support or whatever its called is actually quite pathetic. I was pretty disappointed when my dremel went through it like butter. The steel used on the floor pans is thicker, and that stuff is pretty weak too.
Cutting into anything is going to weaken it really. But guys cut that core support all the time. Turbo guys cut it to stand there radiator vertical all the time with no issues.
it might not seem like a lot right now, but that core support is what will keep your shit from getting completely ****ed should some high asshat decide to take out your front end

i removed about an ounce of sheetmetal. Sure its shape offers some strength, but if it makes that big of a difference id be surprised. Core supports are replaceable anyway so eff it!

what I was thinking, I think you would be suprised how much easier thar piece is to bend with that chunk missing. even a small notch can allow for a piece that would normaly be in tension to fold. but you don't drive an fbody for safety reasons and I guess if you can replace it...it does not matter much.

also - there was another layer of horizontal flimsy sheet metal beneath the piece that i cut out. hopefully its actually a stronger layer. But i would say with all the 'cavities' it seems to have it is clearly designed to fail under a certain degree of stress.

lol, what i meant by completely getting your shit ****ed up is.. ...lol, only the radiator overflow ended up being damaged internally, as opposed to the radiator getting ****ed and everything else behind it... ...i probably would have just cut myself. and no, i definitely dont drive an fbody for safety reasons, but i have no concern for my own safety in that car

Hey I was just going by your tally He's using two different forms of accounting, the sale of the SLP CAI would've been -$70 from the cost tally, thus the total cost would be $-10 (he made 10 dollars). Since you have the cost of the lid being $60 and the sale of the SLP CAI being +$70, that would infer (using Jeff's accounting) that he lost $70 on the CAI. In other words, you're mixing your pluses and minuses from your tally to your total.
