[quote=I also knocked the screen out of my MAF that day, some say it helps, not sure if it did but it can't hurt IMO. Just be careful of the sensors in there.[/quote]

x2. I've heard some bad stories about people hosing up the MAF sensors trying it. I don't think new ones are cheap either.

Yeah, that's in regards to the larger aftermarket MAF's, they don't help you till like 550-600 hp. Up to that the stock flows plenty, and you can always port that one.

I with the "dont eff with your MAF" crowd too.....It's not worth it.

I had a heck of a time trying to get a tune nailed down on my car when I had the screens out......put them back on and was able to tune it much easier.

Probably not...your motor is close to stock. I was trying to nail down a tune with a big cam and AFR cylinder heads......very fickle8-O

I think what's wrong with yours is the fact that your motor has an ass load of miles on it!

Hard telling....I just worked on a guy's 48 chevy pick-up this morning. He put a TPI motor in it and was having all kinds of trouble with it. He had brought me about 4 different ECM's and two MAF sensors to play with....he said none of them worked. Once I started trouble shooting I realized he had a bad MAF (burn-off didn't work on it) and the wire was effed up because of it.....he also had the wrong calpack in the ECM too The truck purrs like a kitten now!

Well, I'm knocking on wood now cause I knocked my maf screen out and no issues yet.

                      Can you get replacement screens?

Mine screen was removed when i bought the car. I know on the new chevy trucks it actually can hurt performance a little, but for now i will leave it the way it is. There are many other things to do on my car. I think i will try the SLP lid and fernco and remove the baffles like you guy are saying.
