well i did the dial indicator on the first rocker. i think i did it right, well the measure was 2.83 anyone have any idea what that would be in return to a lobe?Last edited by twoolley08; November 12th, 2008, 01:19 PM.

I'd be real liberal on the numbers because of this case, if there's any kind of bleed down, it'll throw the numbers way off. As far as I know, both GMs roller and hydraulics have this feature. Alot of time, the 'workable" measurement of a cam's lobes depend on what their lift is @ 0.050, which is the difference between advertised and actual. Kind of a can of worms, trying to figure it without actually putting a micrometer directly to the lobes, determining the C/L and all that fun stuff.sigpic

It may get you close, but honestly, the figuring out would only get you perhaps half the story. You still deal with anti-pump up lifters that'll either bleed down (or not), of maybe only partially. I don't like being the bearer of bad news, especially with this. It would be great of you could find whatever specs you could out there, whether this is an OEM that some guy pumped up to the dealer, or, maybe if it was changed out. There's just no other way than to physically have the cam in your hands (which sucks). Bad thing being, if it is a hot cam and you want to reuse it, the lifters must go back to the cams lobes from which they came.sigpic

flat tappet cams have to have the lifters put back on the same lobes. rollers cams do not. rollers do not wear-in like flat tappet
probably 99% of ls1's with aftermarket cams still have the factory installed lifters. no need to remove for a cam swap and if you did want to change them the heads have to come off
7.400 and 7.425 are very common pushrods.
