  • Long tubes and new true dual setup

Hey guys, been messing with the car more, just got sick and tired of the huge Dual system I had on it.

For Port Hurons cruise night I chopped off the old system right infront of the axle, then ordered some Headman long tube headders to replace the old setup.

Here is an idea what the old system did, cutting off the portion i did effected it so much i had to change the tune on the car got rid of three 90 degree bends on one side alone!!!

    Enjoy the art work...lol

    Old system with Hooker Shortys

as you can see it was a large setup and couldn't breath too well. Also had a constant collector leak because of the sheer weight of the system.

The new setup is Headman long tubes with a pair of dynomax turbo mufflers. I went with dynomax because they flow so well even though they are quiet compared to most, that and the neighbors where complaining as it was about the car being loud. Now it has a nice low rumble at idle and screams well up high.

Here are a few pic's i'll get some better ones when i get it back on the lift to replace the stall next weekend but they did a great job keeping it as tight as possibal, they tossed the mufflers in the small cubby right under the seats. It is no lower than my old setup really. Sounds great and breaths very well, not choking off like it use to in the higher 7000+ rpm range...

Now i just need the rest of the nasty new header paint smell to burn away and i'm set... looks like i need to clean up the underbody when i have it up aswell... friken michigan.

Nice! Does your car have a cowl hood and what looks like grey stripes?

I know he's got the cowl, and I think he did paint a strip on the hood or something. Don't remember.

So I guess you decided not to sell it?

Nope didn't sell it, took it to lapeer for test and tune today with a 03 cobra and a built 3rd gen camaro. Only had a chance to run once but it did a 13.6 at 101 on street tires with a bad tune... The stall i put in it doesn't work at all, toss it in gear and it drops the motor right down and moves right away can't do any kind of real launch or even set the timming properly because of it. I am pretty sure i got ripped off with a pretty painted stock converter... it's killing me because it makes no real power untill 3500 rpm. I had a horribal 60 foot and 1/8 time because it's a dog untill i get it into the upper RPM range.

So i'm getting a Huges 3500 stall this weekend and hopefully some new heads and ignition before the good weather ends, it's the only thing i haven't done to it yet. Then off to get painted this winter and hopefully a 2nd stage of nitrous for next year.. we will see. not to shabby for what i have invested in it so far.
