I didn't say it was a good idea by any means to not upgrade the converter, I just said that you could do with out it.Originally posted by c0ncEpT View PostI don't know what kind of cams you have been putting in automatics but anything 224 or bigger will pretty much NEED a converter. You are going to have to raise the idle to get the car to stay running and not only will it than try to push threw the brakes but it will also surge like crazy at low RPMs. IMO anything bigger than a hot cam will NEED a converter or some type.
That's why I have a 4000 stall!Originally posted by c0ncEpT View PostWhat do I care if its a dog down low when its behind a 4400 stall

Can anyone reccomend an upgraded cam that I could get without needing dual springs, titanium lifters, etc?

Not really set on it, just curious. I'll end up going with a package from TSP or Thunder Racing and their upgraded springs/retainers package is just over $100 more so its not a big deal. Just not too keen on taking the heads off to change the retainers.Originally posted by c0ncEpT View PostIf your set on not wanting dual springs ect. just got the 224 cam

Well it only takes like an hour to pull the heads off than you can add some .040 cometic gaskets and you have even more power to work with!Originally posted by TenaciousB View PostNot really set on it, just curious. Anyone hear anything good about the Texas Speed Torquer v.3 Cam?
The guy I bought my car from had one and said it's a pretty good one.
He offered to sell it to me new in box, never installed, but i didn't have the cash cause i just spent every penny buying the car.
Anyways, I'm thinking about buying one from them.
Along with long tubes.
Edit: Maybe the Texas Speed Torquer v.2 Cam would be a better choice...Last edited by b.lee; May 15th, 2008, 08:28 AM.sigpic

jons car runs GOOOD
the sound, personality, and power of his car are all spot on in my opinion. If i had an LS1 6 speed id buy a V3 without even researching it. I cant even find an LT1 cam that i like!!!-Joel
