Stupid catalytic converters!!!

yep they are a huge pita and they don't stop breaking. mine was causing trans problems too. needless to say i have a straight pipe there now.

the shifting into 3rd at WOT problem u speak of.. i still have this even after the cat is gone. pcm has been retuned too. now if im high in second it will shift, but if i go WOT from anywhere below say 45-50mph.. it won't shift. i can't take my car to the drag strip and run decent times because il run through the traps redlining stuck at 84mph. i've heard some people say third gear goes first on the 4l60es.

Do you have a computer tune on your car? If so it could be telling it to shift higher than what redline is or it's not making it to the RPM it is being told to shift at.

I think I still have the orig. cat on my car.. I doubt it was replaced

theres a place i ndurand michigan that will take your cat off and weld in straight pipe n order the 02 simulator for the car to ssend the code that their is sitll a cat on your car total cost plus parts........82 dollars i think?/ it was about 3 years ago

Good luck with that, My car hit the limiter on the 2-3 shift every pass and still went 13.6@105, Now a few months later the car slips under heavy load in all the gears. I mean I can still drive the car but any thoughts of going fast went out the door. Next comes 4000+ stall and built trans tho !

Your lucky, my check engine light came on at 80,200 miles. I got the big F U from the dealership.

I put a high flow unit on which became better flowing with a drill bit. I been meaning to buy an HP tuners to tune out my past 02 sensor and such.

I hope there's no such place since they can get in BIG trouble with the Feds and be facing SERIOUS fines and even jail time!

yea that is a few thousand dollar fine. most will weld a strait pipe if you take the cat off yourself but then you can get in trouble

Actually, there's more places like that out there than people think.

I had the 81's exhaust done 4 years ago, and the guy didn't even bat an eye at me when I told him "stock exhaust, no cat".

'Course it's the same guy I always go to, and he'd known me for 3 years at the time...

I guess some people don't value their business license or money or their freedom! If you have a bad cat and go to a place like Midas, they won't let you leave with the vehicle unless they replace the cat. That's like entrapment to me which is why I won't to back to them after they pulled that crap on me with my 98 Sonoma.

I had a shop cut mine out in the Z. They gave me a receipt that said "exhaust repair." ...however they werent factory cats so technically they werent "emissiosn legal" anyway. I shouldve never wasted my money on those damn things.

As far as cats lasting... the one in my 92 GMC full size was still good at 200k
