Exhaust System

So I think I'm gonna order my parts here soon, and have it welded up by the guy who does most of the work I can't do (I'd do everything if this wasn't my DD).

I'm going to go ahead and order the Jegs exhaust system.
It comes with a turbo muffler, but I'm assuming the muffler isn't connected, therefore, I'll just use my muffler, change out the tailpipes (since mine aren't mandrel bent) and re-weld on the tips, and also use the Jeg's intermediate pipe.

Also, I'm going to order a DMH 3" electric cutout, I just have to estimate how much wire I'm going to need (I'm assuming a lot, since it's going back by the axle, and the wire has to run through the firewall - where do I run the wires is the next question?).

Any objections?

Yeah, right before the up bend.

If I were you I would remove the cat and put it right there. Seems to me like the closer to the engine you put it the better you would be

like i said I would probably put it right there where the cat was. The hump is already there, why not use it? Just be carefull not to leave it open to long cause I think that you can roast your passenger pretty good

That's partly the problem - because I'll probably use it quite a bit.

Actually, I remember why I was going to put it in the back - if I put it where the cat was, it'll interfere with subframe connectors once I buy a set.

how much did your cut out run?

and you can always drill a small hole then spray it or lock it up somehow.

Haven't bought it yet, but it's from DMH Performance and it is $199 (free shipping) - that includes a 3" Flowtech Race Ready Cutout and the Electric Valve.

If your going out bck by the rear end.. I think i would actually run it up in the rear some place and run it along the existing wire loom on he drivers side floor... That way you wouldn't need to worry about say a rock getting kicked up and cutting the wires.. and its not like your cut outs are taking 4 gauge wire or anything like that.. so wire really isnt going to be all that expensive.. I mean i think you can get a 100ft roll of 16 ga. for 9 bucks... But if you want to color code it you'd need two separate colors. Still... Cheap.

Hmm, been thinking...

Since I'll probably run around with the cutout open, like, all the time...why should I get a new exhaust system just yet?

I mean, it'll be a while before I get a 383, or even modify this 305 to the extent where it'll need the 3" system, so what I thought I might do, is buy the 3" cutout (so I can use it when I get the 3" system), but then get two of those nifty size adapters - 2.5" to 3" and just weld the cutout into my current system.

Not to mention, It'll feel like more of a gain, haha.

Well, I'm trying to look for this loom that was mentioned, but I can't seem to find it (maybe I should put the car up on stands?) - anyone have any pictures?

I think I want to order it this week, and go pick up two reducer pipes...
