SO, my drivers window started having problems last fall when I put it away, it would go down no problem but occassionally it would not alway go up right away, I would have to press it a few times.

Now that its getting nicer out and I have TTops, one day I put it down and it would only go up in about 2mm intervals, it took me all day to get the window shut.

I started playing around with it and now it won't even do down. I took the little window/lock panel off and made sure everything was connected.

Its a 99 would the window motor go out on a car thats less than 10 years old, my 85 TA has power windows that still work. Any other suggestions? I really dont want to fork up $150 just to have someone analyze it.

Yes. I know tons of 98+ Camaros who have power window issues. The motor sucks, that's why there's hundreds of them on ebay for sale -- high demand and high supply, thankfully, so the prices aren't that bad either. The high cost comes in if you have someone else install it.

thanks guys, someone said it sounded like the relay, not a motor problem but that was at the shop around the corner so he probably just wanted some business, I also just talked to a friend whos got a 98 ws6 ands had to replace 2 motors, too bad they cant come up with a better replacement, my 85s lasted this long.

Is that an easy install or not?

It sounds easy until you rip the door apart to do it. Just ask Vince

That's the identical symptom as I had on my passenger side early last year. The OEM window motors are completely worthless. I picked up a generic replacement from the local auto parts place for $30, I think, but there are cheaper ones out there that should be fine. The replacement doesn't take long. Just be carefull drilling through to get at the rivets (which you'll be drilling out and replacing with new hardware). Anyway, if you search around there are some good pics and how-tos on the web. Along with the hatch release, this is one of the few chronic issues with our vehicles.

i was having problems with mine last week and I replaced just the switch in mine and KNOCK ON WOOD !!!!!! IT WORKED!!!!! you can buy a switch from the dealer i paid like $17 for mine and it worked so maybe you want to try the switch first in stead of tearing the door apart because the switch is cheap and it takes all of 3 minutes to replace it ( just a thought ) cant guaratee that will cure yours but i do know a whole lot of people who have had to replace the motor i replaced mine 3 years ago in my drivers door

i did my passenger about a month ago by going by a link i found, it was an INSANELY easy swap, just make sure you have a good drill and some patience the first time, i think it took me like 45 minutes or an hour going real slow and not staying on task lol, wouldnt take over 30 minutes next time, i just had trouble finding exactly where everything was.

edit, just found the link i used, its the camaro one on ls1tech, but it was pretty much identical for my car.
