This wire is slightly better, but if I rev it and watch, I can still get it to arc. It just isn't arching as much as the previous set did.
104 sounds familiar, it may be what I have. If 104 is the standard style plug, its what I have.
    You are recomending .045
, I'm at .050 it should still run without a miss. Its only.005 outside of optimum.
I must be missing something. (Call me capt. Obvious) but for the life of me I can't imagine what it could be. I'm normally a fairly competent mechanic.
I think I might buy a pair of sparkplugs and replace 2 at a time and see if there is any change.
As far as the arching coil wires,......I'm stumped. Ima go back to Advanced and see what they think.

It takes a lot of voltage to arch through air. You need to figure out why your plugs/plug wires are putting up more resistance than open air.

Maybe the block isn't grounded very well?

I run NGKs, i am not sure if the 104 is the recommended plug i know that it is the TR6 equivalent. (tr6 is cooler than a tr55 so by that comparison 104 wouldnt be the recommended plug temperature)

If the wire is the problem, advance should stand behind their product.

All the grounds are present, clean and tight, so I dunno. I just went through all of them last summer when I had starter issues.
Ill find out about the plugs tonight, ima go talk to them Advanced fellers. It'll have to wait a bit, my seat is done so I need to go pick that up.

These are a/c delco wires. Should I try a different brand? Im lost here.
I also noticed a faint glow on the coil, next to the heat sink at the winding. Ive never seen one do that before, is my coil bad?

These last 2 sentences are the key to this entire mystery. To answer my own question.....Yes you idiot, your coil is bad. Staring me right in the face.......

So yes mystery solved, coils are not supposed to glow, with good reason. Now.... Im going to go for a ride!

I am not taking any credit for this, I posted this over on ls-1 lt-1 and coco and steveo both questioned the coil, usmc, also stated to replace it.

Thanks for all the help, it is much appreciated.

Last night I drove my car to work, I'm on afternoons this week. It started to rain around 9:00. S.o.b! So I got to drive it home in the rain. Lo and behold, the thing shook like a paint mixer.
So today I climbed underneath her yet again.....
Pulled a plug wire and compared it to the new set I
bought to get the coil wire I needed. S.o.b!!!

I think the first set of wires, was a returned set someone pilfered the #1 plug wire from. I spent 3 hours swapping out wires. Immediate difference.way smoother, and no miss or any shake.

The fun of working on an LT1 ...

The good news is, once you get it right it should stay right. I havent had ignition issues in 4-5 years.

details on the O2 sensors? My car ran like crap when i replaced one of my factory AC delcos with a bosch. ended up having to get 2 new delco units, the bosch was reading a different range entirely.
