I may have to remove the valve covers and start it cold and adjust one or two rockers that make noise until its warm. Otherwise this appears to have helped my problem.
While it is much improved there was still a miss around 1800 -2000 rpms that I just couldnt do anything about. So this morning, I put the laptop in the car and started her up. I used a small flat blade screwdriver as a wedge to adjust the rpms into a range that highlighted the miss. I then unplugged the injectors one at a time while listening to try and identify the cylinder that is misfiring. 5, and 2, seemed to cause the least disruption to its running while unplugged. but when I plugged 2 back in there was an improvement in the running that was immediately apparent . Things have certainly smoothed out. No more rattling console @ w.o.t. I dont know if there was just a bad connection or if it was plugged and the act of plugging it back in unplugged it. I am just happy its running correctly.




Never mind: it went back to running like poop shortly after. I had to take a day or so to cool off.

Well, its hard for me to admit defeat but there it is.. I know I was close to having her fixed, I just couldnt figure it out in the end. I have relented and taken it to a local shop. I feel so defeated. broken. And I havent even seen a bill yet. Oh well....

yes , I know. It gets worse.... I have been entertaining thoughts of replacing the lt with an ls motor. I keep having these naughty thoughts.......

Sadly, the LT1 motors can be a real bear sometimes. We messed with a whole bunch of stuff on my dad's engine and each time we thought we fixed it, a new issue popped up. It was really defeating. I never have adjusted my rockers after the initial build but the car runs OK so I don't want to touch it.

Hold on to your hat, the plot thickens.....

I just got off the phone with the mechanic. He checked over all my work. There is no mis fire. There is however a balance issue. He had isolated the torque converter as the sorce of the issue. Unbolted it from the flexplate and it runs smooth as silk. Go figure.

so from here we will go over to the drive line section for 4l60e removal help. I have a new torque converter and a rebuilt transmission coming
