2 Step Wiring

So I thought about wiring it to the Clutch Safety Switch.
You couldn't use the 2 step to hold a constant RPM in a burn out though.
So could you just tap off the battery (12v source) put a fuse in line, then a switch, then the 12v input?
That way when you flip the switch and close the connection it provides 12v to the input and activates the 2 step?

2 step wire to the clutch pedal position switch. That way it will get power when the pedal is depressed.

Right but you can't use it to maintain a rpm for a burnout.

You don't engage the clutch when you do a burnout, therefore it will be using the higher, 2nd stage rev limiter while doing one.

So you're telling me when you do a burn out you bounce it off your high limiter like say 6000rpm?

I guess I don't understand what you just asked. I had my 2 step set at like 4000. I'd rev it to like 3500, dump the clutch, and then feather the throttle.

Well yeah thats how I've done my burnouts.
Guess I'll just tap it into the clutch switch.
I haven't looked under there yet but I guess there is two wires. One comes hot when the clutch is depressed.
Anyone know which wire this?

I'm setting my 2 step up this spring. I would GREATLY appreciate it if you posted some pics of this. Im also going to wire mine to my clutch switch, putting step 1 about 3800rs, and step 2 around 6ish. But yeah, my most lacking area with cars is electrical. I already have the MSD installed, just not sure about how to do the 2-step. Thank you in advance!

I think you mistyped. You have the high rpm limit lower than the 2 step. I think you mean 2 step at 3800rpm and rev limiter at 6000rpm right?

what does your 2 step need to see for a signal. some need + some - or some can use either. some you have to use a relay to convert the signal

On the Mallory 685 it just says +12v. So I'm assuming it activates when it just gets 12v on the wire.

lol yes, of course. high rpm around 6k and low rpm around 3800. Just not sure where to tap that blue wire into to work off the clutch.

Get a test light and depress the clutch, the wire that is hot when the clutch is depressed is what you want.
