Get a set of wire clips that go over the valve covers and then drop the wires in from the top. That's how we ran them on Mike's (2000Durahoe) 93 Camaro.Originally posted by MunsterZ28 View Postplug wires 5 & 6 are getting toasted by the headers. what can i do to fix this? my buddy bought plug wires called full metal jackets but a set is $170 i think. little steep for me but they work. does anyone else run stock wires with headers? or did anyone else have this issue and how did they correct it? thanks2005 Yamaha R6

He bought a kit. Was through SLPonline I think. I don't know if you can reuse stock wires or not. I know he used aftermarket ones that were in the kit.Originally posted by MunsterZ28 View Postdo i have to get special wires? or the stock wires will work? who sell the valve cover clips?2005 Yamaha R6

It's Thunder Racing, not SLP. Here is the link. http://www.thunderracing.com/catalog...vid=4&pcid=104
I ran that kit on my car for 2 years with no issues. Sold it and my friend is still using the same wires 4 years after we did the swap.2010 Chevrolet Camaro 1SS/RS - My DD

Try using Taylor's fire sleeve boot protectors with the OTVC wire route. Used this method on my car and seems to work great! The boots protect up to 1200 degress and are available through Thunder Racing.sigpic1994 Camaro Z28 83K M6, CAI, AFR 190cc, 11.6:1, Hooker headers, Hooker ORY, Mangnaflow exhaust, AI 230/238, 1.6 RR, B&M Short throw, Hays clutch, 4.10 gear.

Run what ever type of wire that you want.
The key is to route them correctly. I have run stock wires in the stock location on my LT1 with headers and have never had a problem with them.97 30th anv Z28 Lt1 Ported Heads and Intake, small Cam, LT's, SLP LM1 w/power flow conversion and cut out, Stalled A4, 3.73, 125 shot or so

they wont help considering its the boot that is getting cooked.Originally posted by ThreeHonks View PostDo not use otvc wires - you have been warned
its hard to reroute where the boot meets the plug. i wrapped them some new wires in old school high temp tape and put those stock metal 90 degree elbows on the boot to try and deflect as much heat as possible.Originally posted by gary@evi View PostRun what ever type of wire that you want.

Could you provide a few more details to your statement rather then "shouting" with huge font? Why not to use them for example. The Chevy Camaro was built with a single purpose in mind which it executes flawlessly...Going very very fast in a straight line until your hair catches on fire.
