plug wires 5 & 6 are getting toasted by the headers. what can i do to fix this? my buddy bought plug wires called full metal jackets but a set is $170 i think. little steep for me but they work. does anyone else run stock wires with headers? or did anyone else have this issue and how did they correct it? thanks

Get a set of wire clips that go over the valve covers and then drop the wires in from the top. That's how we ran them on Mike's (2000Durahoe) 93 Camaro.

He bought a kit. Was through SLPonline I think. I don't know if you can reuse stock wires or not. I know he used aftermarket ones that were in the kit.

It's Thunder Racing, not SLP. Here is the link. http://www.thunderracing.com/catalog...vid=4&pcid=104

I ran that kit on my car for 2 years with no issues. Sold it and my friend is still using the same wires 4 years after we did the swap.

Try using Taylor's fire sleeve boot protectors with the OTVC wire route. Used this method on my car and seems to work great! The boots protect up to 1200 degress and are available through Thunder Racing.

hmm, i ran my stock wires all last year and so far this year, and no problems.. but i made sure everything was clear of the headers, and zip tied the stuff up if i needed.

Run what ever type of wire that you want.
The key is to route them correctly. I have run stock wires in the stock location on my LT1 with headers and have never had a problem with them.

they wont help considering its the boot that is getting cooked.

its hard to reroute where the boot meets the plug. i wrapped them some new wires in old school high temp tape and put those stock metal 90 degree elbows on the boot to try and deflect as much heat as possible.

Could you provide a few more details to your statement rather then "shouting" with huge font? Why not to use them for example.
