I was dorking around on Ebay as I typically do and I came across this seller selling a replacement Opti. In his ad though he states - "One mistake a lot of guys make is they add an MSD box onto the ignition. The multiple sparks erodes the contacts inside the rotor very rapidly. MSDs have been responsible for lots of optispark failures, particularly on boosted cars." I've never heard this before and wonder if anyone else has heard the same thing or knows if it's true.

From what I have heard and had happen to our lt1 cars, the water pump leaking is a main causesigpic

Funny, he makes a lot of statements that don't address the real issues. "The multiple sparks erodes the contacts" what he doesn't understand is that the MSD box has nothing to do with more multiple sparks. Its the same as GM stock unit. the erosion is from moisture and water pump problems. Misstatement 2 "Particularly on boosted cars" Ah.... sure cars running boost tend to rev higher and exceed the bearing design limit. His will also fail at high rev.Originally posted by MeenZ28 View PostI was dorking around on Ebay as I typically do and I came across this seller selling a replacement Opti.
