  • LTCC or Delteq?

Well I've went through 2 opti's in the past 1500 miles. The stock one shattered, and the MSD went within 200 miles of install. Aggressive salvaged what they could of the MSD, and said it would last ~20k miles. Well it's another season, and my car is already pulling and jerking every now and then as if it's starting to take a shit again.

So I'm looking into an LTCC kit or Delteq. I've read up on both, and have yet to make my mind up. I'm not good with electrical so most of it is jibberish to me. I'm running a window switch, and a shiftlite. Will I be able to do so with either kit? I'm also looking for a cleaner kit, as I do not want a million wires running through my bay.

Has anyone used either kit? I'm revving upwards towards 7500, so reliability is a major factor. Thanks!

If you want a bulletproof ignition system look into using a gen III dynspark with an LTCC. The dynaspark is the only opti that can handle 7000+ rpm and handle it well. Not cheap, but you wont EVER have problems with it.

I'm personally sticking with all the stock s*** until i can afford to do the whole shebang with an LS1 PCM conversion.

    MSD opti's are junk btw.

Well let's say I'll gather parts for now. I'm not made of money at the moment. Any links on the dynaspark? and info?

I know MSD's are garbage, but it was an impulse purchase, as I just wanted my car running again.

if youre not made of money you probably wont be buying a dynaspark very soon.

but it is essentially an opti designed the way it SHOULD have been from the factory.

For the price I paid for an MSD I could've had that. It's not bad priced. If I could sell some things I'd pick it up. Although I'd have to purchase a Delteq or LTCC kit too.

Wow! The Dynaspark is sweet. At least with the cost, you get outstanding quality and R&D with it.

LTCC is a better setup in my opinion.

I know peeps that have had both and the LTCC was always a better system.

I have the LS coils already so when my goes that is what I'm doing.

                yea i agree.

I need to brush up on some of this though - im not sure you even need an opti anymore if you do an LS1 PCM conversion. I have some reading to do tonight

Yea, how far along is that though? How many have experimented with that swap?

I want something that is proven to handle power. I'm sick of breaking down once/twice/ 3 times a year because of the damn thing.

I didn't even know you could do that.
I wonder how well it works on a 93 speeddensity car???

You could check these guys out - but that might be the most expensive route?

You basically convert the timing to be LS1-electronics compatible and then use the coils and LS1 PCM.

yea i have about 20 emails i need to catch up on, i used to follow the eficonnection build religiously but have been busy with school. Now that its summer, im going to read up on that stuff again tonight but i think they have developed a cam sensor to replace the opti with.

And yea it would be the most expensive route to go, however the MAJOR benefit of it would be the ability to use HPTuners or EFILive... which are lightyears ahead of LT1edit or TunerCat. One of the most significant benefits, esp for you joe, would be having tuning tables up to 8000 RPM.

I WILL be doing the LS1 PCM swap someday... just a matter of time.

im actually in the process of converting to coil packs. im going with the dynaspark. i didnt buy stock ls1 coils though. im using coils off a later model ls2 with the heat sinks. they produce 2x more spark and are better for boosted applications. ill still be using the single connector per side for the coil packs so itll make it look cleaner with less wires. its a good idea to replace the water pump though. thats the main reason they go most of the time.
