I did put Nomex sleeves over the boots that went past the headers on install, but it has been an improved car...no doubt.

EDIT: Almost went with the Taylor "Full Metal Jackets" but thought that would be overkill...at this stage...that is the next step...IF I have issues...

I 100% believe you jeff because like i said, they are hit or miss. It seems to be a batch issue because people either are perfectly happy or completely disgusted. My problem was definitely not isolated, several boots arced to the headers, and I even had arcing coming straight out of the wire to valvecover bolts, alternator, etc. I used insulation to fix the arcing that was visible at idle, but then as soon as i went out and put a load on the car, it would find its way around somewhere or another.

Yeah, but your MSDs did the same thing. I think it has to do with them being "cut to fit" wires.

No they didnt, I never once saw spark where it shouldnt have been with the MSDs. The issue I had with MSDs seemed exclusive to one or two cylinders, which lead me to believe I damaged them installing the boots (which are TOO snug for the wires). I used copious ammounts of dielectric grease so there was nothing more i could do. Its the opti boots fault more than the wires id say.

That being said the MSDs had some corona glow but i dont think that hurts anything.

I am a large fan of my AC Delcos though. 0 missing. 0 arcing. 0 glow.

fwiw - i went accel high temps (shielded braded insulators covering entire wires - supposed to be good to 1200f ) so i could run under my headers and it still fowled a wire within a season due to heat penetration - i'd stay away from them as well

Yikes...none of that sounds good...would be interested to see if people are having the same problems on the same cylinders.

I know that on the TTAs that the problem cylinder is the one directly underneath the turbo...generally the first one to fail every time. When I replaced wires this spring, that particular wire was burned completely in half, even with the nomex boot on.

I had some taylor wires on the DSM when i bought it.... It missed and stalled alot, the wires were pretty much falling apart, i pulled one out and it had pieces stuck on the coil pack.

I put a set of MSD Super Conductors on about 4 years ago and haven't had any problems with them. They, as i rememebr, were like $65 through summit, but for 4+ years? Well worth the cash and couple hours getting them in and routed.
