What do you guys think is up? Earlier today I tried to start the car and it would not turn over. It just clicks. I put a charger on the battery and it still does the same thing. I have no idea how old the battery is, I got it with the car a year ago, but it looks fairly new. Alternator is original. The last week and a half the voltage hovers right over the orange area of the gauge which i think is around 12 volts maybe a little lower.

can almost gaurantee its the starter, real easy fix only a couple bolts to remove and i believe 2 wires to unhook if i recall and your on your way. easier option would be to tap it with a hammer while trying to start the car, theres a good chance you can get it started that way and if so its definatately the starter that needs fixin.-Derek-

Don't tap on the starter, that doesn't do anything, tap on the starter solenoid, If the car starts then its the soleniod that is bad. You can buy that seperatly. Sanes a lot of money. Thats what was wrong with my car last summer, the soleniod cost be around $25-$30. Rather then $125 for a starter.

once a year i take my grounds off and my power wires off the car and clean the ends up with a wire brush or some sand paper. It helps to make sure everything is operating at least resistance and keeps the car starting without cranking on it. I clean up the headlight grounds, the blinker grounds, the battery grounds, alternator wires, and starter ends.sigpic

if it clicks then its not the solenoid. probably a stuck brush in the starter.
The click could also be a pop from a bad connection
Well last summer my camaro just clicked when trying to start. I replaced the starter soleniod and that fixed the problem,
But the starter took a crap when I took it out of storage this year but oh well.

Not to steal the thread but, where is the headlight ground? I have one that kinda flickers or dims randomly, (bulb is good).Originally posted by cobalt camaro View Postonce a year i take my grounds off and my power wires off the car and clean the ends up with a wire brush or some sand paper. they are on the radiator support, should see a little black wire going up there with a bolt attaching it to the support. And it will cause your lights to flicker if they're not clean. Try their, or up on the shock towers, there are grounds on each of those too.sigpic

which means you should have just replaced the whole thing.. lol if one part of it fails its only a matter of time.. just do it once and do it right, only way to goOriginally posted by Blue_Thunder View PostWell last summer my camaro just clicked when trying to start. Ya, it's the solenoid. But nobody will sell you a solenoid for an LT1 starter. So you did the right thing by buying a complete starter. I got mine at Murray's, rebuilt by Bosch, under $100. Then i scored a brand new aftermarket starter for an LT1 for $26, shipping Free on eBay. (sigh)
