    11 mm is typically the size of the pinch bolt. Would need to see it out of the steering shaft to confirm

      At like 9-10 o'clock on the steering gear is that folded up? It looks like that is where the half moon is supposed to be

        Or someone just loosened the bolt and hammered it up without taking the bolt out

          Bought new one at dealer looks the same that was in there. Only thing I can thing of is it was not seated properly

            If someone jacked up the half moon then I will need a new steering rack. Ugh when I get it back apart tomorrow I will take more pics.

              I think badair might be on to something. If I recall correctly the shaft has a notch out of it for the bolt to pass through. If the bolt is in the collar it cant fall off the shaft because it is in the notch of the shaft. Was the bolt still in it? if so then it wasnt on by much.

                They didn't get the shaft on all the way and pinched the bolt down using the collar of the shaft to "hold" the stub of the gear's steering shaft?
