It paints a negative picture though for us people on the edge of using him. My car has a high idle..likely linked to a tune...or is it? Until someone plugs into it and looks at the tune, its anyones guess. Id hate to take it there and have him get all pissy.

He's an alright guy, just has a semi-abrasive personality sometimes. Just have to have thick skin when talking to him. I asked if he ever tunes LT1s and his response was something to the effect of "No because I've never found an LT1 that wasn't a piece of junk" or something like that.

If you have a highly modified vehicle and want phil to tune it I would highly recommend sending him your pcm and having him put a base Cal on it so you can put some miles on it and get the bugs figured out before bringing it to him. This covers both people. He's an hour and a half away from me. Do I want to drop the car off and get a call 2 hours later saying that the car has issues and needs to be picked up? Nope, just like I don't expect someone to waste their time going through my work. You don't really need thick skin to deal with him, he's just a sarcastic guy and jokes around. I about died laughing when he called me a hillbilly for wanting him to tune my truck.

              Phil will not tune junk.

If you think you don't have a cobbled rats nest, let me reassure you..... you do.

Also, if you don't have thick skin or you are just a pu$$y in general please don't call Phil.

Phil is hands down one of the best, especially for a stock PCM. And he has a long resume to back up his skill-set. Don't expect a tuner of his caliber to work on your car if you have a pile.

If you take the time to listen to what he's actually saying, you'll probably pick up some pretty good advice.

But 99.999% of people who he gives advice to on how to fix their rat's nest honestly believe their shit is mint. Let me reassure you once again, in fact have a rat's nest. People are in denial

Does he do standalones also, or does he just stick to factory ECMs?

                          • He did my LT1 car as well, but again 24x conversion. He did comment that he was happy to see an LT1 with a minimal amount of zipties on it.

Thanks a lot. I don't know Phil like a lot of people on this forum and used him solely on the recommendations I read on this forum. I had a great experience with Phil. I do not have a 24x conversion so he was a little limited, but he said he was happy with the results. He was great to deal with and did an amazing job.
