My service 4X Drive message light is on. Anyone know of any common problems that GM has with the Yukon that could possible fix it? Sounds like it's trying to engage, but won't. It is stuck in 4X drive.

Push button 4wd? 90% of the time its a bad switch in the dash they are a known problem.

Check voltage at the t-case motor, It sounds like the motor is weak if you hear it trying to change positions. They get corroded inside after years of michigan winterssigpic

Also check the resistance through the motor t should be within 18-25 ohmssigpic

Check for a rubbed through wire at the shift control module which is behind the 4x4 range switchsigpic

Ok, was driving the Yukon today and the service light came back on. I don't want to touch the switch in fear that it won't go back into 2 wheel drive. I haven't run any codes on it yet.Comment
