  • Too much oil pressure?

Ever since I installed the new oil pump drive gear, my car has had abnormally high oil pressure wile not up to temp. Engine is running 5w30 conventional. Like this morning, I took off from a stoplight and the rpm goes up to 3k. I look down, and the oil pressure gauge is pegged (80+ psi). Then when I pull up to the next stop light, and at idle, it still has 60psi. When it warms up it is fine (20psi idle, 60psi cruising. Should this be a concern? It has me worried a little, as I think this is what caused my old oil pump drive to fail.

60psi cruising is still high. I only get about 40psi and that's with the white spring mod.

Engine was rebuilt 12k miles ago, and has had the exact same oil pressure at operating temp since then. It is just that the cold engine psi is higher now.
