Best Subframe Connectors? Midwest?

Hey all -

While the car is in the shop, I think I'd like to get a set of SFC's on it - it'll also help to ensure that everything is lined up properly. I am really considering the Midwest SFC's - seem to be a great product, at a great price ($160 shipped)...even if they charge me $100 to weld them on, it'll be the same or less than the cost of a set of bolt-ins.

Is there an alternative you'd recommend over the midwest pieces? One point is - I don't want some hideously visible pieces when the car is on the ground. I'd like for them to be as discrete as possible, which I *think* the midwest pieces would be.

Call MWC and make sure they have them in stock. If not look at other options.

I'll confirm that they have them if they are the best - even if not, I have a few week window still before they'd be putting them in. They haven't even torn the car apart yet.

Make sure you order ones for a convert they are a little diferent. I had a set of bmr subframe conct. on mine round weld on ones good and heavy not like the flimsy ones, realy like mine would do them again.

mwc makes a hell of a product I recommend them highly.

I have UMI Performance's 2-point SFC's, but would have used their 3-points had they been available back then. I seriously doubt Midwest would have anything to fit the vert, but it doesn't hurt to ask. If you come up with goose-eggs, definitely buy the UMI 3-points. There are only like two manufacturers for the 2-points, but the 3's are vastly superior, and UMI is the only game in town (unless you can scare up a set of the new old stock SLP units). You can get the UMI's in weld-in or bolt-in.

3 points are a sales pitch IMO. Mounting the 3rd point the the flimsy sheet metal tunnel brace isn't going to do a damn thing IMO.

They MIGHT be a little stiffer if used with a tunnel mount TQ arm but I still wouldn't spend the extra money.

Its not just the mounting points that make a 3 pt design stronger. It triangulates the tube that runs along the the rocker.

I have installed UMI 3 pts and 2 pts and I thought they fit well.

But IMO any subframe connectors are better than no subframe connectors.

The UMI 3 pts just came out about 6 months ago. They look pretty good. I found an NOS set of the SLP 3 pt bars for my car.

Founders are pretty inexpensive. Havent heard anything bad about them yet.

Def prefer the MWC....completes the connection between frt and rear subframes instead of tying into the LCA.

Whether they are bolted in or welded in, the car MUST be sitting on a flat surface with all of the weight on the tires. Only kind of lift you can use is a drive on type. And don't let anybody tell you otherwise. Period.
