yea so i just had my car in the shop like 3 months/ 700ish miles ago, and i come to find out that after replacing the headgaskets and resurfacing the heads and all, that now the ticking noise started again, so i brought it back to the shop and now they are saying that my camshaft is messed up. is this going to kill me in cost? because i really cant afford to put any more money into this car right now lol

tell the shop you need a lot more information, a camshaft doesn't just "break". Especially if they just did work on the heads of the motor, kind of makes me suspect.
      Doing less with more

I would assume they mean its scored and wiping out the lifter rollers hence the ticking noise.

I would change the oil filter, replace the cam and lifters call it a day and drive it till you can rebuild or go bigger

I agree. we change cams and lifters on 5.3's 6.0"s all the time, some on higher mileage trucks. never see them come back needing an engine. sometimes shops do that so they will not be responsible for something down the road. i know it's a 5.7, but i bet it would be alrght.
