  • ls1 top end build

so ive been looking for the right ls1 camaro to buy but in the mean time im looking for some knowledge. have a hefty parts list already but as far as heads and cam goes what would you more lsx knowledgable guys suggest for very high 400hp car? dont want to touch the bottom end i.e pistons but cam wise ill go with a decently large one. more for road racing.

heads there are a million options and idk where to start. basically id like a nice head and cam package to meet up with the fast intake and tb i have on the list.

as far as push rods, valve springs, lifters, and all the other knick knacks that come with a top end rebuild what are you guys running?

thanks for any advice. ill sure to be post pictures of the car when i do buy one. im just being extremely picky right now.
wishing i could drive like joe and the atm squad

GM High-Tech Performance has done a pretty lengthy camshaft shootout that ended up being three articles over time. 242/245-duration, .646/.637-inch lift, 111 LSA + Patriot Predator 215cc heads managed to pull nearly 123hp and 41tq over stock.

More info about what they experienced here:

How much are you willing to spend on a set of heads?

so you want to make high end h/c power but for a road course car? wouldn't you want more mid-range for that type of racing?

          High 400crank or wheel HP?
Getting that much at the tire won't be easy on the dynos around here

I totally missed the road racing statement. He definitely doesn't want high horsepower then. Mid-range torque is king!
